I like a challenge and crave success. Golf is so challenging, and if not, you can always level up to a more challenging course.

When you play well and/or win your foursome, there's no other feeling like it.

Great thing about WFH, I can go hit a bucket of balls during my lunch break
Or go to the garage and hit into my net
I'm ate up, it's pretty much all I want to do.

I did say that. Not sure what your beef is. Are you feeling ignored?
just letting you know that it is an incorrect statement based on nothing at all.

Still don't know what you are talking about and starting not to care

This isn't difficult, Monty.

What about my statement below makes you say I am not a die hard golfer?

I wish I did, I have had ample opportunity to play, and tried. My mind set is just wrong though.

The last time I played I put it in the hole from 70 yards out it was the greatest shot of my life. Within 2 holes I was pissed off again, I could not even enjoy the moment. After the game I tried to think of the last time I ended a day of golf in a good mood and realized I never had.

I know it is my own mindset, but I don't see it changing, so I no longer golf.

I get it. I played a lot of high level junior golf but got so burnt out I didn't even pick up a club for like 3 years after high school. It wasn't fun anymore. Now I've learned to just treat it as a reason to be outside drinking with friends. Don't take it too seriously. Hit a bad shot that pisses you off, throw another one down and laugh at yourself.

A crisply struck iron where you don't even feel it hit the face. Nothing like it.
Can you describe that feeling, I haven't hit one of those yet.

Knocking one stiff. It doesn't matter how badly I played, there's always at least 1 shot like that that brings me back.

It's the most difficult sport I've ever played.
It is a combination of power, touch, and brains.
And it's all about me. (or You)
And nobody masters the sport.

So many different shots give such great sensations in golf. Only need some every round to keep you going back. That booming drive; the crisp approach shot that leaves a perfect divot and rolls close to hole; the smooth bunker shot over a high face; the very long putt with drop in green that has you aiming at 45 degree angle from the hole. Oh, and finding that driver shot you sent into the rough is in bounds and actually has a perfect exit for 2nd shot ...

... the clean long bunker shot 170+ that lands on green in distance to birdie; the the 1-yard putt downhill with just enough drop to make it very difficult; the booming 3-wood after a solid drive on a par 5 ... so many things make you go back and admire the sport so much.

Never have done a hole-in-one, but the perfect shot from par 3 that converts to birdie is also an amazing sensation.

It appeals to my inner engineer. To me, swing mechanics are a series of complex problems that need to be solved. I just don’t look at how to get the ball in the hole in 4 strokes. I’m studying things like launch angle, ball compression, spin rate, angle of decent, etc; and how to manipulate my swing to create favorable and repeatable results.

for example. I’ve spent two years with a coach and still have long running defects that I’m working to fixing. I’ve fixed a hundred others and drilled them until they are muscle memory. Right now I’m working on pulling my right elbow in and shallowing my swing. I tend to reach and get my hands away from my body and hit the ball more towards the heel causing a push out to the right. It’s pretty consistent but I’m now to being off by and inch or less where a year ago I was still all over the place.

when I play, I don’t think at all I just play and try to relax. I was shooting 100-120 (horrible I know) two years ago. Now I’m 90-96. I broke 90 a couple of times but that’s ok with me. My goal isn’t to compete, it’s more to suck less and enjoy the game.

Golf keeps you fit and engaged. I play golf High Handicappers Putters. It can be a friendly competition against friends or with yourself. It challenges both your mind and body and allows you to look inward and work towards improvement. Whether you shoot a 72 or 144, there's nothing like spending a couple hours, or even an afternoon, out on the golf course.

No one, not even Tiger Woods or Big Jack, played well after 4 or 5 rounds.
True. Not comparing to them, just an average golfer here. Started late in life. Took me about 2 years to break 100 consistently, playing once per week.

Then, about 6 years to break 90 consistently. Now have a 14 HC. And, man it is fun to shoot below 90. Lowest score is an 81. Not great, but can play with scratch golfers without slowing them down.
