You know what's so frustrating about Avery, Jeff?!? He has some nice skills (good skater, good set of hands etc.), yet he seems content being a complete asswipe on the ice and hiding behind officials. You want to get your nose dirty, fine, just answer the bell when somebody comes calling.

I feel the same way about Lapierre, hes fast and has decent hands. Yet he is just an ass. Sometimes a players true personality just comes out.

Yes he is, he was never going to get the ice time in Washington to prove he can play. Nice move by the AV's.

I think he proved he could play plenty and he did get lots of ice time (5th among Caps' forwards in ATOI last year). He spent a solid amount of time on the 2nd line last year, but (a) he was going to want too much this offseason for the Caps to keep him, (b) he was probably the weakest of our 12 forwards defensively, (c) he disappeared in the playoffs last year and has underperformed all this season, and (d) he just hasn't worked out at center where we really need him since the top 6 wingers (OV, Knuble, Laich, Semin, Fehr, and Chimera) are pretty set.

All this meant the Caps could add a piece that helped the team more than letting Flash languish at center or not being the defensive presence they want on the 3rd line. I think he's a solid 60-70 point a season guy and a top line winger on most teams. Unfortunately, our top 4 is tough to crack at that position and once you get down to 3rd and 4th line, you have different needs. I think it was a win-win trade and I'm glad he's doing well.

Thats why I prefer blank, personalized or retired jerseys.

I'm afraid to get another jersey. Other than Bossy, Trottier, Potvin & Smith the guys I got were traded.

It's still kinda cool to have a jersey of an old player from the team, unless they go to a rival. Wait a sec... how many jerseys do you have?

And no, not a Cosby sweater. A jersey.

I asked for a Capitals' red jersey with Perreault or Carlson on it.

Anyone else? Or feel free to put down any hockey-related gear, memorabilia, or clothing.

Same here. Damphousse was gone soon after I got his jersey, Ryder sucked then was gone (game worn charity bought auction one too) soon after. I got one with my name on it and I partly like it but partly think its stupid so I never wear it.

My #9 Habs jersey is the one I wear most.

I hope you're not called 'Dick' very often, comeds...

Nope, well not for that reason, I didn't get the name on the jersey - just the number. At least some (perhaps all?) of his jerseys were before names were on the back so I went with just the number.

In this area I'd bet against too many people knowing who the player was.

Plus this way if they ever take his number out of retirement, for Lapierre or Spacek for example, then I will be all set!

Does GunsandBeer know about this? A Sharks fan (aka Nintendo hockey) buying Original Six merchandise?!?

Avery waltzed into the Red Wings dressing room like he had singlehandedly won three Cups, a Conn Smythe, and saved Gordie Howe's life on Christmas Eve. All before he set foot on the ice. There's a reason he was run out of town from the best run team in the league before he could complete a full season.

He is an egotistical clown who has done absolutely nothing in his career to demand the respect of the players, the refs, or his teammates. He's got some talent and could be a valuable 3rd line grinder who throws big hits, fights for his teammates, and puts up 20/20/100 a season.

Instead he acts like a knucklehead beer-league tool and runs his mouth like he's accomplished something.
