Just curious of opinions on here about their favorite edge rushers that would be available at #29.

Mike Green…will be the best if he can stay out of trouble.
Pearce Jr if he's there. Donovan Ezeiruaku if our favorites are gone. Donovan has some good tape despite not looking explosive, he makes the plays.
Pearce Jr allegedly has character concerns, but he looks like a high ceiling guy
I want the Commanders to get a well-rounded DE. The team needs a player who can set the edge but also get after the QB. If the team wanted a pass rush specialist OLB type they would have kept Fowler. I think we will see them draft a bigger DE 260 pounds plus. JT T of OSU looks the part and sets the edge but he wasn't as consistent of a pass rusher that I would like to see. That said, I think he will be better at stopping the run than Mike Green on day 1.
I lived in New England during the Pats dynasty. Belichick's top priority from his DEs was their ability to set the edge and stop the run. He would drill that over and over in practice. I think we'll see Kinlaw play some in that role especially on early downs.
The Commanders were last in the NFL at stopping the run. The team wasn't bad at getting sacks. I will be surprised if the team picks a DE who can't set the edge.I disagree b/c Kinlaw and Wise were brought in to set the edge in the running game. We have no speed pass rusher except Luvu, that is why I think we go for another speed pass rusher in the draft. Pierce and the BC kid come to mind.

Scourton could be the player chosen. He is a very good pass rusher but still can set the edge. There are guys who are well rounded in this draft like M. Williams, and Stewart who would give the team more than a speed rusher/ pass rush specialist.
Do you really want to see the Commanders line up against the Eagles with a DE who can't set the edge?
I want an every-down DE from this draft, especially if it's pick #29. Offenses can use hurry up and stop defenses from subbing in. Plus, opposing offenses are aware of teams' and players' weaknesses. They will run right at a weak run defender.on passing downs, yes. We need someone. Fowler was not a good run defender. There is no pass rusher on the team right except Luvu and the guy we got from the Bears. Scourton is interesting big boom/bust type player like Stewart. Another guy is Jackson from Arkansas. He can do both. If Green, Pearce, or the Bc kid are there at #29 I would be shocked if they passed on them. IF those three are gone at 29 a trade down could happen. Or take Stewart at #29 b/c of his huge upside.

That's why I never got the logic of selling the farm for a player like Trey Hendrickson. How did that work out for the Bengals last year? Burrows was leading the offense to over 30 points in a lot of games and they were still losing.
Defenses start with stopping the run. There are ways to generate a pass rush with LBs and DBs for example. Plus as I mentioned there are DEs from this draft that can do both. The Commanders are fortunate that there is depth in this draft at the position.
I watched TN closely all year. James Pearce was a good defender on a very good run defensive front. I like other options better as his 243 lb frame is a bit light for me to fill that position from day 1.i heard of Pearce character concerns as well. That could cause him to drop to 29.
