The Giants or the Nationals?
The Giants didn't really have huge expectations by most accounts. Nationals did.The Giants or the Nationals?
Consider the OP in this case.I call NL bias here. No mention of the Red Sox or Tigers.
Throw them in the mix and the answer is still "Nationals."I call NL bias here. No mention of the Red Sox or Tigers.
From a baseball-only perspective, not in the same class as the Nats, but yes.The Padres
Was Atlanta expected to be anything this year, though? They were pretty much expected to be a transition team this year.Hi Atlanta
I agree that the Nats were expected to runaway with the East and be WS favorites, and currently are far back in the postseason hunt. I'm just a little biased for my pick, both are definite disappointments. Them and Miami are the 3 disappointments in the NL this year, I wouldn't really think of SF as a disappointment because they didn't have the high expectations(Nats) or the big offseason to turn a loser into a winner(Padres and Marlins) that those 3 had. From a baseball-only perspective, not in the same class as the Nats, but yes.
However, to get the fans hopes up like that in a market that needs the win makes it a tougher bad-year than Washingtons, though.
It's probably as damaging an offseason, that yielded absolutely nothing in the big picture, as any in a long time. I agree it's not quite the most disappointing, but the worst offseason/season? Oh god, yes. From a baseball-only perspective, not in the same class as the Nats, but yes.
However, to get the fans hopes up like that in a market that needs the win makes it a tougher bad-year than Washingtons, though.
Indians are still rubbing their eyes. Not saying they'll get out of bed, but they might think bout it.Tier 1 disappointments: Nationals, Red Sox, Tigers. These guys were the favorites. Nationals were almost unanimous playoff contenders.
Tier 2 disappointments: Indians, Marlins, Mariners. These sleeper teams went into a coma
For me it would be Astros, Mets, Cubs, Royals and probably in that order. Others might have a different list.Let's make a thread on who's the biggest surprise in baseball.
They are a disappointment if you thought they were a dynasty. Other than that, Id say they only slightly underperformed. Not sure how the Giants are a disappointment at all.
It's an odd year, they'll be ready next year. They are a disappointment if you thought they were a dynasty. Other than that, Id say they only slightly underperformed.
Maybe. I kinda feel like most of the top NL team copied the Giants way to success to a certain degree. I think they'll be in the mix but I'm not giving them the Spurs treatment. It's an odd year, they'll be ready next year.
