It has to be Domingo Santana, right? But if it wasn't for that dumbass MLB rule that every franchise has to be represented, would Santana even be selected for the game? Sure, he has an all star-type RBI total (2nd among AL outfielders), but RBI has come to be seen as more of a team stat in recent years. Meanwhile, he is 13th among AL outfielders in OPS, 13th in homeruns, 14th in runs scored, and 16th in OBP.
Vogelbach might actually be a better choice. Among AL first basemen, he's second in homeruns, first in OPS, and second on OBP, 5th in runs scored and 5th in RBI. But he has only started 13 games at first base, and the game is in DC so I guess that means no DH. That will hurt his chances.
Is there a chance they both make the All Star team? Maybe, but I doubt it. I think it will be Santana...unless they want Voggy in the homerun derby.
