I think Trout is a great choice, but not even close? I would definitely put Kershaw up there.

Kershaw? I don't think a pitcher can be the face in today's world.

Posey? Not enough personality, and his numbers, while good/elite for a catcher, are not for the casual fan. If he is able win a third ring this year, than the "Captain" monicker could be handed to him, though.

Trout? He plays in LA, so that is a HUGE plus. He is also starting to do some national ad campaigns, so his face us out there. I am ignorant about his personality, though. As for rings, he is still young, but he doesn't have them yet.

Jeter was the face for three reasons; New York, rings and a single team. Trout has "New York"(LA) and Posey has the rings. Both look to be relative locks to spend at least the bulk of their careers with one team.

Other potentials would be Rizzo (if Chicago wins in the next 2-3 years), Puig, Stanton...

My question though is who is THE face, not who are the 7-8 biggest names in the game. Will one guy be the big name like Jeter was, or are they now without one? The NBA has LeBron obviously, the NFL it's a couple of quarterbacks: Manning, Brady, Rodgers. I guess with MLB it's Trout with a side of Kershaw, but as a poster above said the league could do a better job marketing stars.

The easy choice is Trout, although I think McCutchen could be a solid choice if they push/market him right (he's at somewhat of a disadvantage being in Pittsburgh).

I think Tulo would get some votes. On and off the field, same team his career. Plays the game right.

Tulo is always hurt. The face of baseball isn't someone who is always hurt with no major milestones to hang his hat on.

As I said earlier, Trout is the face and it isn't close. Derek Jeter was someone that even grandmas who don't watch baseball would recognize, trout is easily the closest to that...already.
