when a player makes a series of bonehead plays do you like the kinda coach who responds by

a) ripping the player in front of everybody

b) ignores the player totally (pulling the disappointed look)

I prefer the immediate, intense sideline teaching method. A kid would rather get immediate help than receive the silent treatment.

I think there's a happy medium. Like waiting until the player gets off the field to talk to/coach him. That's my preference.

Head Coach lets the assistants do it.
Head Coach needs to be thinking ahead, not about what just happened.

Think about ;
Tom Osborne
Barry Switzer
Bill Snyder
Bobby Bowden

I agree, but the question didn't say anything about being the head coach. The head coach can delegate the sideline stuff.

I like the coach saying something immediately. I was always told, if the coach yells at you, then he thinks you are worth something. But maybe that's only applicable at practice...

yeah thats why rex ryan drives me nuts.....

his CB gets a pass interference

next play the same CB gets an unnecessary roughness penalty

next play the CB gets another pass interference

and once again on the 4th straight play he gets unnecessary roughness again for a late hit (finally rex takes him out)

i dont know what to be more appalled at....
1. that rex kept him in the game despite committing 3 straight 15 yd penalities (i personally woulda yanked him after the second one

2. that rex didnt even flip out, he just totally ignored the guy. if ever you had the option to rip a player i cant think of a better time to do it.

3. what kinda message does that send to the rest of the team & backups? that the starter can fuck up that bad & still get a pass. i dont care if you are charles woodson, id pull his ass for the game if he did that.

4. talk about a team with no discipline....thats 100% on the coach
