I'm taking a wait and see position, but you're right in declaring that thus far it appears to be the same old same old in Ashburn.

To me they have to openly admit that they are in the midst of a total rebuild, act accordingly and go strong in trading for draft assets, and acquiring young talent in free agency.

Let that young team grow together and become a force for a long run towards greatness.

I am fine in admiting that we stink and tear it down. I also agree that we need to let our young players grow.

I think some in our fanbase get emotionally attached to players like Flowers for an unknown reason and claim we must "keep our own" at all costs. We literally had the worst offense in the league and are arguably are the worst team in the league. However, we have posters on this board who insist we keep the band together. That makes no sense to me at all. I am not saying that we need to trade or cut every player, but the bulk of this team should just go. Its not possible obviously but claiming we have to resign most of our own is just stupid. These are the players that led us to a 3-13 record.

An article came out today that this will be Rivera's most important free agent offseason. I tend to agree. I advocate building a base of 5 free agents and have them be our wave of rebuilding. These players will hold the fort down while our young drafted players develop and grow. Others on this board want us to be penny pinchers in FA and build through the draft. By taking that approach, Rivera will be out of town in 3 years. We are simply too awful to rely on bargin FA shopping and praying we hit on all draft picks.

We do have to wait and see with Rivera as well. Keep in mind. Rivera was barely over .500. Its not like he won the SB several times and always had the team in the playoffs. He also brought in a questionable OC and we have no clue what Turner can do.

what is the point of tearing down a team that stinks ? if it stinks its already torn down

we need to resign players we draft and develop , thats how you win long term

this is an evaluation year for RR . , there isnt going to me a miracle turn around in one year

RK will be off the books at worst next year TW will too . stop being in a rush to do things .

spending big on a free agent class that will have less then a 40 % success rate isnt going help this team

we have good young players . probably should have been a 6 win team last year but lousey coaching doomed us

this year we are looking at about 6 wins

as for flowers he was our best o/lineman last season and i have posted numerous tapes showing it

also this corona virus will throw a monkey wrench into OTAS . mini and TC camps

That makes no sense Skinsdad and that is what I am talking about. Why are some posters here so emotionally attached to players we draft? If we draft a player and they do not pan out, we move on. Just because we draft them does not magically make them good. We have talked about this numerous times, we historically do not draft well. You resign the productive players and let the ones that do not work out move on. I don't think we should track down Sua Cravens and Josh Doctson because we drafted them.

Agreed, its not going to happen in one year.

We need cap room Skinsdad and we have been rebuilding for years now. You and I have had this same conversation since the ESPN days.

Define spending "big"? I am talking about filling holes with younger proven players. We must rely on FA to get us on solid footing due to the poor management of the team the past several years. We have the least talented roster in the NFL and we need starters, not depth. Once we get a good base of drafted players, then we can reduce the FA signings. We will be stuck in a circle of constantly have a top 5 pick if we build through the draft only and refuse to improve the team.

I highly doubt we get to 6 wins unless we get more talent. We have a few good young players, maybe 5 or so. And our record is what it is. The coaches do not block, tackle and throw the ball. You are not holding the players accountable.

Flowers was not our best OLineman. That is simply not true. It was Chase Roullier statisically speaking.

I would say our roster is far better than people give credit, and young.

QB- Dwayne Haskins, 22, improved every time he stepped on the field. Everything hinges on his development.

RB- Derrius Guice, 22, was looking fantastic prior to his injury. If he can ever stay healthy, he looks special.

RB- Bryce Love, 22, has never stepped on the field but this was expected. I loved the pick when it was made and I love it now.

WR- Terry McLaurin, 23, was, perhaps, the best offensive rookie in football last season. I wasn’t thrilled with the pick when it was made, but I am now.

WR- Steve Sims, 22, came out of nowhere last season and brought some electricity to the building.

WR- Kelvin Harmon, 23, looked good last season when given opportunities.

G- Brandon Scherff, 28, is one of the best guards in football, especially if he can be healthy.

C- Chase Roullier, 26, is at least a solid center.

T- Morgan Moses, 29, had a horrible year; however, he is definitely capable of being at least good.

SS- Landon Collins, 26, was a bright spot in a poor season. Perennial pro-bowler.

CB- Quinton Dunbar, 27, has developed into one of the better corners in the league.

CB- Fabian Moreau, 25, showed some promise, but was inconsistent.

LB- SDH, 24, will get his shot, finally.

That brings us to our DL, which I can see a DT being traded.

DT- Jonathan Allen, 25

DT- Da’ron Payne, 22

DT- Matt Ioannidis, 26

DE- Montez Sweat, 23

DE- Chase Young

We were a three win team but a lot of factors went into that. One would be horrible play at QB, while the biggest was coaching.

I hope Rivera can bring it all together. I am actually more excited about Del Rio than Rivera.

I think the defense will improve and grow. We need some LBs and a #1 corner but they are getting better. Del Rio will whip them into shape. The bulk of our talent, to your point, is on the defensive side of the ball.

The offense is a disaster. We have a lack of talent and lack of experience. I also am not sure what we have in Turner. Nobody does. As you said, the season will be determined by Haskins. He needs guidance and help. Zampese will help but he needs protection and playmakers.

When you are literally the worst ranked offense in the league, yes, you are considered a disaster.
That means that literally every team has a better offense in the league.

With respect to Guice, yes, he has been a disaster to this point as he has only played in 5 games in two years.

McLaurin is a stud.

You cannot argue with the facts Deanpet, we literaly have the worst offense in the league and I just proved it.

That's LAST YEAR. We are going to get new weapons and Haskins isn't a rookie anymore. Alof of teams make huge jumps in a year.

But at this point, we do NOT have those weapons so yes, at this very moment, we are literally the worst offense in the NFL.

Keep in mind, we cannot address the offense until the 3rd round as Mr. Young will be the #2 pick it appears.

We only have 43 million to get "new weapons" plus we have no #1 corner back and LB corps.

I think you are being unrealistic.

Admittedly I am not a big fan. He came on a bit late last year with more playing time. I can only see him playing DE for depth because of his limited athletic ability. Still a role player imo.

I don't see a problem with Guice, AP, and Love. McLauren, Sims, and Harmon. Adding Hooper and a WR in the draft or vet FA we should be fine for the weapons. Assuming Flowers comes back we have a hole at LT. Hopefully #74 can step up.

Guice = has never been fully healthy in 2 years and only played in 5 of 32 games. Major concern
Love = Took a redshirt his rookie year and had another clean up surgery. He is not played a down and is still not healthy or ready
AP = 35 years old but still runs hard.

WR are fine.

I am sure you are joking about Christian as he has not really progressed since being drafted. LT is literally the 2nd most important position on the field and your hopes are on a player who has not really progressed in 2 years?

I cannot follow your line of reasoning at all...sorry

The team is not giving up on Guice, Love, or Christian. Actually Christian was decent before he got hurt last year. All three RB's will be healthy for the season.

We should not give up on any of the RBs obviously. We simply do not know enough about Love. He could rush for over 1,000 yards.

Guice is another story and this should be his judgement year. If he cannot stay healthy this year, we must move on.

Christian graded out as below average actually. You do not want an average of below average LT. If you have a below average LT in this league, you are in trouble.

I agree but the jury is still out on Christian. My point is that we have a lot of young guys with talent so its not fair to judge them from last year. Plus you don't know if we will bring in affordable veteran FA's to fill in key holes.
