.........and right now it looks like a done deal, considering where he is currently employed, will this team live to regret the dysfunction that helped create his failure?

I highly doubt that there is another team willing to accept both his current contract and that 5 year option that goes with him to any trading partner. I cannot see Griffin as a backup here, as that too feeds the media, social and others as reminders that the team paid heavily for Griffin and all they got was a lousy backup (traveler's tee shirt material) It looks like the best option for this team is a quick departure, followed by maybe a few days of bad pub, unless of course Cousins fails miserably, and Griffin goes elsewhere and becomes what he was drafted to be.

I think our FO is scared that RG3 will get injured this year and have to pay the 16 million dollar salary for next year. Plus he has not shown enough so far during the preseason/workouts to be sold on his future.

They can wait to see if injuries hit other teams and then try to trade rg3. At this point it needs to be done. The waters are poisoned so bad, there's no way rg3 could succeed here anyway. Gruden is clearly fucking with him IMO. Plus he's mentally weak so he's probably done in that regards. Such a sad ending that no one could have saw coming this quickly after that electric rookie year.

Actually I saw it coming before that electrifying rookie year.

Sure did, wrote about it here and many times since that this team should not have started him after he was drafted. They should have hired a dedicated GM to build a strong team around him and be patient enough to assure that Griffin had mastered using and studying a playbook, learn to operate in the pocket, protect himself, read defenses and correct his footwork. Of course I ran into an avalanche of opposition, mainly because of the price paid for him. Even now there are those who say that he bought it all upon himself because of his out of control ego and divatude, what they fail to realize is that the first thing that I insisted upon (benching him) would have gone a long way towards tempering that. So, here we are, in the first year after hiring a new GM, and a well respected QB's coach, finally trying to teach and improve a oft injured QB skills that he never learned in school nor in the three years since being drafted. I fear now this team will never know how good things would/could have been had it taken the time to do things properly. It seems that they are preparing to move on without him. Shame how the lack of historical perspective dulls the senses. Remember Randal Cunningham? Nearly the same story, reckless player who didn't learn until he was beaten up late in his career. To be fair there was one other person insisting that the team not draft him at all.

When he is released after the season, Bruce Arians will pick him up & sit him behind Palmer till Carson retires. Thus resurrecting his career.

Seriously though, there are too many desperate teams that will sign RG3 for more than any of the good teams would be willing to pay for a backup.

This is what happens when you make a brittle track star your starting QB in the NFL. That shit worked fine in college, but the NFL adapted quickly.

Gruden isn't fucking with RG3? Really? Bashes him publicly all last year. Declares open competition for starting QB job. Names RG3 starter before competition ever begins. Keeps RG3 out there getting smashed by Detroit with a make shift OL. Still says RG3 is the starter. Magically RG3 is concussed or is he? Cousins named the starter. Gruden now says:

"I have nothing against Robert," Gruden said. "I like Robert as a quarterback, no doubt about it. His future is with the Washington Redskins."

Yeah, he's not fucking with the guy. His future is NOT with the Redskins, why even say it. It just makes him sound like a fool.

RG3 still on the team, but he doesn't need to try and sugar coat the damn thing. Stevie Wonder can see what's going on here.

Regardless, this is sad time. Knowing the ROI on RG3 is officially crap and it happening so soon after such a great start.
