Injuries.

Oscar Moller left for Sweden.

Dustin Brown is not good enough for top-six, too expensive for bottom-six.

Terry Murray suffocated our offense.

Matt Greene is too slow.

Locker-room dissent.

Anze Kopitar is not as good as people think.

Lack of creativity.

No third line.

"Shot mentality" leads to too many low-percentage, perimeter shots.

Peter Harrold left for New Jersey.

Dustin Penner is no good.

Jarret Stoll is not good enough for top-six, too expensive for bottom-six.

Relied on Ethan Moreau and Trent Hunter for "veteran leadership."

Michal Handzus left for San Jose.

The Kings got lucky last year and over-achieved.

Drew Doughty missed training camp.

The Kings can't handle high expectations.

Terry Murray was too calm and nice.

Alexei Ponikarovsky left for Carolina.

Drew Doughty isn't Ray Bourque, he's Roman Hamrlik.

Wayne Simmonds was traded to Philadelphia.

Ryan Smyth was much more important to our success than any of us would like to admit.

Inability to get to the shoot-out, where the Kings were unstoppable last season.
Not enough "compete."

Heidi Androl is gone and the players feel rejected.

Players tuned out Terry Murray, abandoning a system that worked.

Terry Murray was too stubborn and rigid.

The "new" jerseys.

Dustin Brown is a bad leader.

Everything's fine. Lombardi should have been patient and let the Kings play their way out of their slump.

Jamie Kompon. Don't know what he does really, but this is his fault somehow.

I believe this is your problem. Send to Canucks to help bring us down please......

actually without him playing at the top of his game it is pretty tough. your stars as a whole just dont seem to be clicking and the changes maybe were too much

Thats what I am going with. I thought they'd click just based on personalities. But it does not appear that way.

Maybe Saturday's game was rock bottom, and the Kings can start fresh with Darryl Sutter behind the bench. Penner better get his butt in gear or else he'll be watching games from the press box.

Kopitar is pretty good, but with no third line threat he's playing against top lines all the time I'd imagine.

And Ryan Smyth is a rather large loss. He's not the kind of guy that wins individual games, but he'll help win a season.

Gut feeling here, but I think it's something in the locker room. Terry Murray was not the right coach for them, but there's no reason this team should be sitting at 14-14-4 right now. They have WAY too much talent.

Maybe that is part of the problem, though - They've been reading too many press clippings about the talent on the team and aren't putting in the effort. They also need much more from Drew Doughty and Jack Johnson.

The Penner trade was the beginning of the downfall. They never should have acquired him. Trading Smyth for nothing was STUPID beyond words. The guy knows how to play the game & is a winner.

well he is a winner when his team the Oilers lose enough in the regular season and are eliminated from Playoffs and he plays for team canada.... :) then hes a winner :)

Kings were ok with Richards. When Richards and Mitchell both out the Kings went from being average to horrid.

I think Drew should not have asked for his pay in Loonies. The weight is slowing him down.

Relied on Ethan Moreau and Trent Hunter for "veteran leadership."

Allow me to get into more detail on that. I think he overestimated Hunter, and Moreau. Major mistake to stand pat on $200,000 for DD, and pay Moreau $600.000. Then turn around and pay the $200,000 anyways, after DD missed all of camp, and the boys were on their way to Europe.

Not firing Kompon before the season started, and getting a specialist with a track record for having solid special teams was something that many have complained about since last season, and Dean stubbornly refused to act on it during the summer. He majorly waited too long to fire Murray, and still didn’t want to do it when he did do it.

I really liked the “In Dean We Trust” T shirt, but damn if I’m not feeling too happy with him right now. I love the work he’s done as a builder, but he’s loaded the cupboard with players that he can’t use because the coaches that he’s choosing need size and strength to succeed.

This is supposed to be his year when it all comes together, and on paper he did his job. Then he ignores exactly where it’s coming apart, and all his brilliant work is going down the shitter.
