Haven't been able to see one snap from Dwayne Bowe or Pryor because they've been out since forever with hammy injuries.

And I know the Browns are the only team plauged by guys out with a hamstring injury. Bill had 2 or 3 backs out including shady McCoy with the injury.

Just Google NFL hamstring and go to the news tab to see all the guys hit with the injury.

Is this indication these guys weren't working during the off season or just an usage injury that's plaguing the NFL?

:gaah:

McFadden at the Cowboys also.
Aren't these suppose to be " elite " athletes.?
Since when do these guys not run in the offseason.?

Answer: When they sign their over-blown contracts.

I'd bet it has to do with the new limitations set up in the CBA for practice. The coaches know they can only get so much practice so are trying to cram all they used to do into a shorter time frame. Guys are still cold from off time and push too hard and strain the weakest muscle in their legs.

Nope. I've been saying it for years.

These guys aren't hydrated well throughout the season and leading up to TC.

Then in TC their muscles aren't pliable are maxed out and ...snap.

Believe it or not it could be over-training ... either way it's obviously the wrong training methods ...

Last year I took a quick-step while coaching football...

My calf muscle felt like it ripped through my leg I swore it was torn.

It was just from dehydration and the muscle wasn't pliable.

Will be interesting to see what happens this year...

The Eagles have Marcus Smith out (also hamstring), but over the past two seasons (combined) they were the healthiest team in the league. And IIRC the so-called soft-tissue injuries (the ones one can actually do something about in training) keeping players out were rare. And IIRC Smith might be the only one out with a soft tissue injury that can be related to practice methods and all (the only other might be Ertz)...

Would be interesting to see how they do this year, and in comparison to the league - especially since they allegedly spend so much time with sports science, and monitoring their players (including keeping them out of practice for maintenance, or based on measurements, including hydration).

That's a great point, hydration. Have to wonder if these guys have been drinking too much as well because I remember pulling groins after a night of drinking.

I remember reading on how Emmit Smith have muscle pull injuries and then he stopped partying and it went away and the rest is history

Hot weather usually contributes to cramps and muscle injuries.

I'm telling ya it was an he opener for me....

The Dr. Said most sports injuries are prompted by dehydration.

On the other side hyponytremia is too much but I can't imagine hat being an issue u would be throwing up before u got here if u were runnign.

Besides the reasons already mentioned, many guys half-ass it when stretching before a workout and that can also lead to these types of problems as well.

Part of it also is these guys can come into camp in shape but that doesn't mean they are football shape. It still takes time to get the bodies back into handling all that the body goes through playing football. Such as instead of running to stay in shape in a straight line all of a sudden your making cuts all over the place putting strain on those muscles more so than just running some routes without a defender in front of you.

They are paid athletes why isn't this part of the training regimen?

Not the hitting but the cutting route running etc.

So many injuries not from hitting it tells u they aren't doing the work prior.
