yeah, but I am going to package the jeep with good camping equipment as "boy free weekends" for the wife. She will allow those payments. And daycare is another mortgage right now.

LOL...Good plan.

And I hear ya about daycare, it can be very expensive.
We were fortunate in that my wife was able to be a stay at home Mom.

I am a little younger than some of you guys, so mine is a little later model. For me, it was the Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale

Loved the 360, and thought the Italian graphics were awesome

Going by the thread title, I'd say the neighbors' matching his-n-hers '63 split window Stingrays. They were maroon. I always wanted my grandma's '56 Fairlane 2dr also but so did my 2 brothers and about 8 male cousins. She didn't want the pressure of deciding which of us got it, so she sold it for $300.00 to the 1st guy that came to her door asking about the car. We could always tell by the sound of the exhaust (dual)going up the driveway that grandma was visiting.

^ From having those in boats, I could rebuild one drunk in the dark...bet I've tore a 454 down a dozen times. They're sure easy to work on...it's too bad they never designed a better way to water cool 'em that wouldn't leak.

In '76, I went to an (unnamed) automotive trade school. At the school drags, some idiot had stuffed a 454 into a Datsun 510 wagon and was the laughing-stock of the drags. He was by far, the slowest car there. :laugh3: :laugh3: :laugh3:

454?..water leaks? You gotta have a custom Radiator built for these BAD BOYS...anything less and your asking for water leaks somewhere. Heats your enemy.

no, these were in boats. They run raw seawater through the manifold as well as coolant separated by a little piece of metal that rusts away every 6 - 12 months. It's the most retarded design of all time. If one leaks a little sooner than expected, you have saltwater either dripping or shooting onto the valves and getting right into the engine. :L

Saltwater is corrosive no doubt...never worked on a motor in a boat juice. Seems I heard awhile back "ethylene gasoline" tears the crap out of boat motors too. Boat owners have said the repairs due to that style of gas were enormous, true or not?

No doubt! Especially outboards were destroyed by additives. They have some light aluminum and other "unhardened" parts that the corrosion gets 'em fast. However, that's not much compared to the damage done by ethylene on fiberglass gas tanks that then gets into the engine.

Of course, those additives dissolve the gel coat on the inside of fiberglass tanks and literally melts them. So, not only are the tanks ruined and have to be replaced after just one filling, but the engines are too because that melted gel coat gets into the engine and instantly clogs it all to hell - sticks rings and everything. Add to that many boat tanks are foamed in - so, peeps don't know there's a tank leak until it gets pretty bad. The bilge pump kicks-on and BOOM. I'm surprised more haven't been killed.

Like pickling your engine in glass resin:

After Watching the movie Bullet . I coveted a Mustang fastback. A couple yrs. later I test drove a used Mach1. Going down a Chicago alley, I decided to gun the son of bitch. I almost killed myself & my buddy who was a long for the ride. It was going every where but where I wanted it to. Those alleys are small . I let up on the gas, and got it under controll . And my buddy says , that was awesome. I guess I'm just not a power freak. But I drive trucks now.

I have never lusted over a car in my life. I've always seen a car as a transportation vehicle to get you from one place to another.

I want a car that's cheap and dosen't cost much for repairs. I own a Toyota and a Honda and wouldn't have it any other way.
