He struggled a bit last year in Detroit with walks, but that may have had something to do with the Tigers' catchers inability to frame pitches. McCann was the worst among all catchers in RAA per StatCorner, sitting dead last at -30.2. Avila also rated pretty poorly at -16.2.

He's also been throwing his curveball a lot more since joining Houston and they're known for making pitchers throw more curveballs and fewer fastballs. He's thrown 153 curveballs in 8 starts, he threw 401 last year. He had 190 in 2016 (granted he missed about half the season) and only threw 253 in 2015. He has a 54.8% K% on his curveball so far this year,

it's also 8 starts.

So why is a recent Cy Young winner (Dallas Keuchel) not lighting it up? You would think he would also have a sub 2.00 ERA if there was cheating involved.
