"not enough national appeal." That may be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. It has everything to do with MLB showing solidarity with the NBA brass and not wanting an NBA player to garner such favorable attention at this time. Completely ridiculous, no matter what spin MLB puts on it.

It is all about the lockout, I guess. Couldn't be a nicer, more well respected athletic figure in the world. And of course, Dirk has plenty of national appeal especially with those who actually watch the sport. Not like a bunch of smack talking, full bodied tattooed hood rats go to baseball games anyway.
