I am concerned that the Flyers are kind of "all in", at least long term on a goup of guys who were really good as 2nd and 3rd liners and a goalie who shined in a small market. It is a huge gamble to me, but it may pan out.

I just think teams don't need to go all in anymore. Even with the cap still rising, parity is slowly setting in, imo.

Vancouver - Which is not to say they still aren't one of the Cup favorites
Ottawa - rebuilding is a bitch
Philly - think they'll be worse the next year or two, but perhaps much better than last year's team in years 3 and 4
Montreal, Winnipeg - other teams in their divisions typically improved more
Colorado - subtraction by subtraction
Phoenix - lost a franchise goalie

I like this phrase. I plan to use it.

There is no doubting that Varlamov has tallent but giving that much when he hasn't been able to stay healthy for more than a half a season is risky to say the least. Add in the fact that the contract given would've been a 1st and 3rd instead of a 1st and 2nd, the fact GMGM probably would've traded him for a 2nd alone, the fact Voukon signed that deal, ect. its a horrible deal for Colorado.

No other team in the league was getting Vokoun for that deal. It was probably a reason GMGM made the trade though. It had to be one of the easiest decisions of his GM career.

The Avs have some talent up front & on the back end. I just don't think they have a chance at the playoffs this year. I think they're going to regret trading Stewart no matter how good they think Johnson is. It's easier to find defenseman than power forwards.

Is Kuznetsov in Caps camp or in Russia? How many years does he have left on his deal if he's in Russia?

If the Caps end up winning the lottery & getting Yakupov is their some way the rest of the league can punish the Avs front office in a very painful way?

It would be so wrong if Yakupov became a Cap. It just wouldn't be fair.:L:
