Last nights lineup..

OC SS
Keppy 2nd
Prima Donna rf
Panda 3rd
Huffy 1st
Boss cf
Giraffe lf
Stewey c
Freak

What it could be if healthy...

Schierholtz cf
Sanchez 2nd
Beltran rf
Posey C
Sandoval 3rd
Huff 1st
Giraffe lf
Teh Black Hole (Tejada, OC, Fontenot) SS

Anyone think this lineup would be scoring more runs? Though, does Sabean even go out and get Beltran if Posey/Sanchez are playing?

Is it possible that Huffy ends up batting 7th next year?

Wow...

No, because Beltran will not be here, not a chance.

Possible 2012 lineup:

Coco Crisp (or someone, Torres not going to be there) CF
Sanchez 2B
Panda 3B
Posey C
Huff 1B
Belt LF
Nate RF
Crawford SS (or another 1 yr stopgap? With the lineup above Crawford's bat in the 8 hole isn't so bad)

Belt and Huff may be flipped as well, depends how they are doing. And having those 3 lefties in a row isn't ideal but not sure how to fix it given the personnel. If Belt is just raking maybe he can be the cleanup guy, Posey to 5th?

Another question mark is the rotation. I guess we are stuck with Zito as the fifth starter for at least another year?

I think we deal Sanchez in the offseason, maybe that's how we get a CF or SS

Tim, Matt, Bum, Vogs, Zeets

I think Surkamp may be forced into action next year. Those bottom 2 look a bit worrisome. Vogey has earned a spot in the rotation next year, that is clear, but I think we need to EXPECT him to perform like a lower end 4 at best, and be pleasantly surprised again if we get more.

Zito I have lost all faith in.

We all have, but do you think they'll really DFA that huge bucket of sunk cost?

Or will they say: new year, turn the page, maybe he will do ok (not good, ok) with almost a whole year of rest...

I know which way I'd bet. Not what we in the internet brigade would do, but it's not our money.

Zito will be in the rotation...his "health" next year determines how much time he spends on the mound....

I think they will do everything they can to trade him. If that means eating 98% of the contract or including a decent prospect (Thomas?, Peguero?), I don't know. But I think a trade will made the medicine go down better than a DFA.

However, the signing was from the previous administration and I think a DFA is not out of the realm of possibility. Especially when it gets to the point where the roster spot is more valuable (like it was this year -- I believe he would have been DFA'd this year had it not been for the nuclear bomb that detonated in the trainers room).

These are reasonable points and I hope you're right. Not sure I'm convinced yet but could very well happen. Which would be :squeeze:

Technical question for the guys here way above my level: if we do somehow get the Cubs or Nats or Yankees or whomever to take Zito by paying say 75% of his deal, how does the buyout at the end of his deal work?

I think the figure is we will have to pay $7 mil to him to get rid of him after the 2013 season...if he's a Yankee then, do we pay 75% of that $7 mil? Or does the team employing the guy have to be on the hook for the entire buyout?

Not a big deal just curious...

I am not 100% sure, but I believe we would send Zito and a set $$ figure to the receiving team (probably on a payment plan, I would guess). However, I remember there being a big deal with ARod when he took his out in the big contract he signed with Texas, and the fact that he did that cost the Spanks a lot of money because a technicality in the deal. :noidea:

What do you think we could get in return for Sanchez? At this point, I worry not much, his value is low right now with the injuries and poor preformence.

Think we could get Lorenzo Cain from the Royals? Denard Span from the Twins? Elvis Andrus from the Rangers?

Maybe, no, hell no

Remember, we won't be dealing him until the offseason, when he will presumably have come back and pitched and hopefully ok. We are spoiled by our wealth of talent at P but other teams would still see a young 3rd starter with great stuff.

Austin Jackson from the Tigers, though I'm not thrilled about his career line as a leadoff hitter. His average last year was fluky (very high BABIP), he strikesout a lot and doesn't walk at teh rate a leadoff guy should. He wouldn't fix that anytime soon here. But he has the tools to be a great player.

I like your take on grammar and punctuation.

Yes, I can see the future. Giants are going to win the West, they aren't going to sign Beltran, and you are going to need a lot more time to figure out how to embed smilies.
