What is Dipoto's next move

I mean mostly in terms of the fact that Smith is a value player. There's nothing that really jumps off at you on the baseball card statistics, but Smith is great at working the count and IMO sees balls and strikes better than anyone else on the team. Offensively I believe he's worth vastly more than he's being paid.

I agree with you, but just not sure Dipoto does except the working the count part.

Dipoto on making a big signing:

"Very unlikely," he said. "And I was honest about that two months ago, we were not likely to be about marquee names and big signings. This was going to be about complementary pieces and guys who could build a winning environment and group. We've done our big game hunting in the past, (Cruz, Kyle Seager, Robinson Cano and Felix Hernandez) they are the core of our club. They are signed long term and they are celebrated elite All Star level players. That is the group we are building around.What we are doing is we are raising the floor around them."
