I've been meaning to ask you DC - I would love drafting Apple at 31 and making him a Safety. I think if this kid kept the play in front of him his ball skills would translate into big plays. What do you think of that idea? I know CBs don't want to be Safeties -because that is not where the money is, but Apple actually could start off as a Safety and convert to CB - or take reps both ways.

My biggest issue with this idea is that Apple played his best when he was in man coverage. He really struggled when asked to play zone and well Safety would require that from him quite a bit. Now I will say I wouldn't mind him being that 3rd safety on the team and coming in on 3rd down to man up against some of the TE's we will face. I think he has the size to hang with them and of course more speed than he could ever need for such a job. So I wouldn't be upset about the pick as he has some of the highest upside for a player going in the mid to late part of the 1st round with being so raw yet already showing great ability.

Apple to me is a PERFECT Denver corner. I think it would be wise to have him as CB4, move kayvon to S, and then you have

1. Talib
2. Harris Jr
3. Roby
4. Apple

This guarantees you have at least 3 'plays on an island' corners going forward, even when we (likely) move on from Talib next offseason.

Speaking of Corners was listening to "The Drive" yesterday where they did a 1st round mock draft. They didn't have Vernon Hargreaves III selected in the 1st round. Jalen Ramsey went something like 12th overall. They did not seem to be big fans of the Corners in this draft.

Although for the Broncos in the 1st round they selected Karl Joseph. Was very surprised with the pick. He does seem to be showing up more and more in the 1st round.

I'm starting to think that Safety is higher on the Broncos wish list than some think. Bruton really was a huge piece of the puzzle this past year before his injury. We really had no answer when Bruton went down and the other guys got dinged up. Now given not many teams have 4 starting caliber safeties but right now we only have the 2 and both are injury prone so yes a 3rd safety of high quality is definitely needed. I would throw in Elway has shown Defensive Backfield seems to be where he loves to invest the most money and draft capital. So wouldn't surprise me one bit for him to go after a safety. I do think Karl Joseph is the better fit between him and Bell as I think he can play either safety position and be a bigger part in helping the run defense. I also think Joseph has the higher ceiling. He is quickly becoming one of my favorite players in this entire draft. Bell though is probably the better coverage Safety of the two and really that was what Bruton was for us this past year in he was asked to do much more in coverage compared to the other 2.

Seems obvious around here that we are all on the safety bandwagon. Need a depth guy who can start soon. Our starters are great, but with Stew banged up and his contract up and little depth it just seems logical we are grabbing a safety early, maybe even another late if the value is there.

Re- Hargraves. People are hating on his size a bit. If he falls out of round 1 it will be the biggest steal in NFL history IMO... The guy is a friggin cornerback tramp!!!! He is REALLY REALLY REALLY good. As a UF fan the best UF CB I have ever watched and that included my fav player in the NFL Joe Haden (non bronco player)... Ramsely at pick 12?

The CB draft isn't real deep in my eyes, but I love the top 5.
