For those non kfflers. Each year we do this around draft time about 2 weeks leading up to the draft. A round 1 and 2 what if.

The question is what would your reaction be if this is how our draft went?

Here is today's

"WHAT IF"

Share your reaction if this was reality.

Round 1- Paxton Lynch, QB, Memphis
Round 2- Sterling Shepard, WR, Oklahoma

For me. Not thrilled but could live with Lynch at #31 beings we need that young QB.. Not excited but hopeful and any QB is going to peak your interest a little with it being that special position.

Round 2 Shep would be a perfect fit here and a good replacement for Sanders if he does walk after this year, also can help right away in the return game which is much needed. I'd be pretty happy with Shep. Had him in my college fantasy league his SOPH year and have been a big fan ever since.

I would be very happy but would be anxious for our thirds being a defensive draft kind of guy.. Would need to hit the next few picks

1. Paxton Lynch
2. Sterling Shepard
3. Christian Westerman
3c. Jihad Ward
4c. KJ Dillon
5i. Jon Williams
5ii. Jatavis Brown

Something like that ;) lol

I would be ok with this. There would be a lot of potential for this to be a great draft depending on how Lynch develops but this also could be a draft that people look back at and say "What was Elway thinking?" and it be what sets us back a few years as we wait for Lynch to develop.

Lynch for me is a guy that it all depends which game you watch of this kid. I remember going to Vegas back in October or November of last year and while waiting in the airport watching about 5 games of this kid and just being in awe hoping the Broncos stood a chance of getting him. I mean I watched that Ole Miss game and was blown away. He was not that great though closing out the season and so you watch some of those games and are just left thinking this kid could be lucky to even be an average QB.

I would say of all the top-4 QB's Lynch has the highest bust potential but I also think he has the strongest arm of the group and more athleticism than a big man like him should have. He could either be Ben Roethlisberger or a giant bust of a player. It would be a risk and my guess is we would have to actually trade up to get him. At the same time no matter what QB Elway takes I am going to have faith he knows what he is doing.

Yeah I don't let one bad game usually sway me too much. I would say the Temple game bothers me more so than the Auburn game. He came up pretty small in that game. Completed a decent number of passes but the offense just did nothing. Now given Temple was a pretty good team but even SMU was able to put up 40 against them and they went 2-10 that year and all his offense could do against Temple was 12 points. Seems like the pressure of a really good season started getting to him. This is probably the one thing I love about Cook over the other QB's in this draft. He seemed to rise to the occasion in most of their big games. I am one that is always big on seeing how a player rises up when the heat is on. A lot of these guys crumbled. The mechanics side never worries me too much unless it looks down right terrible like Tebow but the others you can do little things to fix some of those issues.

If this happened 50% happy 50% not happy I'd not be thrilled on draft weekend. I later would hope Lynch would pan out for us and the Broncos. I think Shep would be awesome in a Bronco uni

Hogan is the terrible mechanics guy this year. his throwing motion makes me want to punch children it is so ugly lol

im still mostly on the Dak/Hack round 2 train

Yeah I want nothing to do with Hogan. Seems like a pretty smart player but I barely see him as even a viable back up QB option.

As for Dak/Hack I would be ok with either of those guys. Honestly for me I bunch a lot of these QB's close together. I could see all of them having the potential to find great success and completely be out of the league in 2 years. I think I have made it clear that Cook is at the top of my list with Lynch not too far behind. Dak and Hack are a little ways behind on my list but they also get the added benefit of not having to use a 1st round pick to get them. So good and bad for whatever way the Broncos go and huge risk no matter what.

Well it would be crazy if we agreed on everything so I will take us agreeing on most of it. Like I said with all of these guys I see huge flaws and I see huge upside. I really have no clue who Elway would lean towards. I think both Cook and Lynch (both finished top-5 in accuracy on deep passes (over 20 yards)) fit Kubiak's system the best but they also have the highest risk considering it would be a bigger investment with a 1st round pick and possibly more if we have to trade up. I think Hackenberg has the worst resume of the 4 though. I love his upside though as watching that year with O'brien man that kid was looking like he was going to be special. Is he too damaged though with 2 years of subpar coaching and protection? Dak is the wildcard. I really don't know what to expect from him going to the NFL. It does seem like quite a few teams are interested in him though as he has had a ton of interviews since the combine.

I am fine with this draft but would rather a DE or ILB be in the second . I want two ILB DE's and Cover Safeties draft or RFA ,UFAs I think we are still weak in those areas

I`m hoping for Long snapper and punter with first two pks but if I have to settle then....No Lynch. Rather have Cook if we take a qb that high and would mostly prefer qb in 3-4 th rd in this draft. Fine with Shepard but would rather see Te ( Adams ) S or DT/DE with that pick. Have strong feeling Elway is going to surprise us all anyway. :) PS. They should get Vernon Adams in late rd / udfa. Telling you, kid is going to surprise. :)

Carl brings up a great point that I see people take way too much into consideration. I have seen to many players make or break their draft stock by the random fan, draft site or even sometimes NFL teams based off the bowl game. Could be because they are in the spotlight, a lot of people seeing that prospect for the first and only time I am not sure. Jarvis Moss was a 4th rounder, IMO until his bowl game vs Ohio State and teams fell in love with his dominant game. I could see him moving up from it, but not as much as he did. Then you have the reverse route.

I remember when Jeff Goff threw 4 picks vs Utah this year everyone automatically panicked, one bad game against a good defensive team... You have to look at more then one game to judge a player.

Hogan is a much better prospect than this board thinks.

I love S. Sheppard - great player - this draft however falls a little short on next season help for the Broncos.

Hogan at worst will be a long term backup QB for many years in the NFL. I am not sure if I believe he can start in this league, but he can hang around a long time. I sorta see his career being one of those guys in and out as starter playing for many teams but for a very long time.

And I see Hogan as the type of guy that can give the Nazi's fits.

I'm not thrilled with Lynch, but I could handle it if he fell to us at 31. I wouldn't want to trade up for him, though. Especially not any higher than a few spots. I could see if he gets to 27 or 28 and we get nervous about someone in the high 2nd moving back up for him and we feel like we need to solidify the pick. I do like Lynch better than Cook, though.

Sheppard, I could handle, though. I don't think we would be going BPA in this scenario, so it would depend on who we are passing up to get these two. I don't think I would be too mad, but I wouldn't call myself happy afterwards.

I'd be pleased as punch. I'm not a big fan of punch though.

I would be excited about both players - especially Shephard. And I'd be interested in seeing how quickly Lynch would progress. I would expect him to be the started by his third year.

I hope he is starting before his 3rd year. Back in the day teams would develop a QB that long, but nowadays we need him sooner if we spend a first rounder on him. If he wasn't starting by year 3 it means he is really struggling or Mark Sanchez is going to be REALLY REALLY good here. ;)
