Things have done downhill so fast> 1-9 in the last ten games. I'm trying to put my finger on it, but it seems to be everything. Any thoughts?

An outsider point of view to me as someone that lives in the area but roots for the A's is this.

1. They have a burnt out pitcher in Lincecum maybe from being used too many innings over the last three seasons and also the amount of innings might be affecting Cain.

2. Some of the players got complacent I'm thinking mostly of Pablo being really in terrible shape again, he might have thought after that epic World series game he didn't have to work at it as much and things would just go his way.

3. The Giants were a bit of a lucky club to win their championships and do not have an elite roster and haven't had a elite club during their run, I am not trying to take away the accomplishments because they were earned and deserved but that 2010 team got into the playoffs because San Diego melted down at the end of the season.

Last season the Giants came back from the brink of elimination in both playoff series credit them for finding a way to get it done but S.F. just isn't a team that when the A's play them that I fear like the Yankees, Red Sox, Rangers, Cardinals ect so I believe their margin of error is smaller to get a playoff berth without being stacked with high level talent at every position.

Things must go right for them because instead of some stacked lineup they have one elite player in Posey and another major talent in Sandoval but with Pablo being out of shape and not producing as much the team doesn't have a lot of punch, I think of Pence as more of complementary player who is capable of having big moments.

All in all though if your Giants fan I don't think you can be too upset, you won two championships you play in a great park and you have enough income to make a play for free agents, Timmy and maybe Zito will come off the books this season and you can add a few pieces and try again next year if things don't turn around this season.

Beware though the Dodgers are in my mind Yankees west with that new ownership and Seban along with other NL west GMs are going to have to step up to field clubs that can really compete with the them spending like drunken sailors in years to come.

Yes, I agree that they weren't great and did get somewhat lucky in the playoffs. But they were good enough to make the playoffs. They aren't now.

Decent analysis.

Point 1 is a bit off IRT Timmeh, though. Timmeh has(had) a delivery that depended on his freakish flexibility to work. He was a gymnast. Now that he is getting older, his body is not as flexible and he does not have the same pin-point control of it that he had when he was younger. During his CY runs, he did not even ice his shoulder because that was not where the stress was being placed. The stress was on his back and hips.

Point 2 is, I think, right on the money. Complacency seeps in everywhere. If the team is to have any chance this year, something needs to be done BEFORE a trade happens. SabeySabes has already said that the G's will not be buyers if the current crop does not show signs of life soon.

This is a painful year, but "2 in 4" still sounds awfully sweet.

I doesn't help that Pence is slumping and Belt is still up and down. Pence has been a huge part of the offense.

Pence has been slumping.
Panda has been slumping.
Blanco has been slumping.
Scutaro has been slumping.
Crawford has been slumping.
Belt has been OK (at best).
Posey has been Posey.

It is not just one player. Someone poisoned the Gatorade.

Dude, what is up with Panda? He seems to be getting bigger every time I see him.

Everyone sees it but Giants fans. He's enormous; never been bigger.

The Giants want the cellar desperately but the Padres refuse to let them have it that easily.

They rely on pitching, hasn't been as good. this is the first time over the last several years they have had an ERA over 4.

Giants 16-31 in their last 47 games and Flablo is batting .103 over the last 10. It's taken the Padres losing 10 straight to hold a tenuous lead on the cellar that they are the Giants covet.

I'd say this is their lowest point in five years.

You can throw Cain's stinker of a game today into the mix of what's wrong. Nothing was announced but something's gotta be wrong with him if he came out after 2/3 of an inning, especially after going only 2.1 innings his last start.

Remember when their starting pitching was a major strength?

Yeah, I remember. Back when every other word out of their fan's mouths was "dynasty." :rolleyes2: Couldn't have happened to a more deserving team.

They are not the only team to crumble under the fighty force of the Mets.
