I agree that the SEC has lost a lot of excellent defensive players to the draft. In addition, the SEC has improved the offenses as well. We shall see how things sort out in the bowl games.

I dont think it is exactly a knock on the SEC defenses here. It is just that most of the better "Athlete" recruits nowdays are being used on the offensive side of the ball.

The shootouts in the SEC are also attributed to the game changing.

Used to be, defense wins championships. Now it is good enough defenses win championships. Looks like that is the direction things are heading. Because nobody outside of Michigan State and Florida has dominant defenses.

In before Bama fan "we pitched a shutout" Yes, great defensive performance. But shootouts are even happen for the Tide. If there is any more proof that the game is changing look no further than that.

I know it was just Kentucky last week. But with Driskell it seems that UK would have been in that game with him @ QB. He was just off this season. Turnovers were coming in mass.

THis kid they have now isnt turning the ball over and can make plays. Huge difference.

Anomaly! It happens every 100 years. Alabama is still only giving up an average of 14.5 points a game (13th) after giving up 42 to Texas A&M (21 in 4th quarter). Alabama has moved back to #27 in total defense after giving up over 600 yards to A&M. Only a 4 game test model. We shall see. However, I'm thinking Georgia and LSU are not stopping anyone too soon. Will be winning in shootouts!

Murphy threw a dumb INT, just like Driskel has done. The Gator offense did nothing in 2nd half. It doesn't look much different to me. They need to change some of the ideology on offense, and they need to play the new guys.

Driskell really wasnt performing up to standards. Especially vs THE U

This Florida team is not a good fit for Driskel because he is a drop back QB. Our O-line can't seem to keep a clean pocket and Driskel was unable to scramble as does Murphy. I agree that Florida would have handled Miami with Murphy as our defense continually gave the ball back to the offense and Driskel had a woeful effort in that game. Our biggest loss was Easley, not Driskel. Actually; I hate to say it, losing Driskel probably was good for the team. Kentucky was unable to do much against Florida, but the loss of Easley will show up against the better running teams as that one guy dominated the inside of the line.

Murphy doesn't panic yet that I have seen, makes his second reads way faster ..does his check downs faster and over all so far from what I've seen knows when to throw the ball away or run AND SLIDE ..but he's not as big as driskell the only down side ..kid has decent head on n h his shoulders... keeping m by fingers crossed he just gets waaaay better and no backsliding as the heavy's start to roll on in

Cautiously optimistic is what I call it.. think I will have be a better take on things after Ark.. they will be our biggest competition so far other then Miami.. but then again Murphy wasn't the qb that game

As bad as Driskel has performed, there was a reason that he was the starting QB. I hope Murphy does well, but I also think this offense is fighting with one hand tied behind its back. This offense looks like nothing compared to Brent Pease's offenses of the past. Why is that? Is Coach Boom holding him back? Something needs to change. They are going to go up against some offenses that can score a few points on this defense, and they will need to score some points of their own.
