With a off-season in progress, an NFL draft and free agency to consider isn't it time to consider trying something else with respect to bringing in talent to this franchise.

The beginning of the Snyder era focused upon bring in high priced free agents who were once stars or previous teams. After years of this the organization turned to "name" HC's who were mostly hamstringed with a know nothing GM, free agency and draft interference from their bosses. So Sty, tell us what this big plan of yours is?

Well, how about identifying players who fit the schemes of the men who coach them instead of the current formula that insists upon "he was/is a really good player in school, or on another team" so if we got him he'll be good here as well.

To be sure, this team needs help in a lot of positions, but new doesn't translate into fit and that's where the question about what this team is comes into play. It is interesting that, there's no one, from team management to fan who's able to answer this single most important question. Until there's some identifiable definition of what it means to play Washington Football, free agency, and the draft becomes exercises in getting more guys to field.

We need to start drafting/signing smart players. Players that have an understanding of situational football. Take Zach Brown for example. Decent player, but interior LBs are usually the voice of a defense, at least its front 7. Alinging and re-alinging players as needed, changing the signals etc, He can't do it. I have no idea if Foster can, but he wasn't smart enough to keep himself from talking shit about the team and fans to some random cat on the internet. So how swift can he be?

I'm beyond tired of seeing an opposing WR running unencumbered through the Skins defense, catching a pass and hi-siding to a TD. While at least half the Skins secondary are looking at each other with hands up in the air and a who stole my "Who Farted?" baseball cap?

Jokes aside you make good pts. Offensive issues are a little harder to address, but in terms of defense the Skins can certainly make strides there & IMO it starts w/ having players of the correct mindset. All of them don't need to be all pro players, but they should all contribute.

Look at the games yesterday. All 4 of those teams had very good defenses. They also all played as a team. When one player made the initial hit quite often several others would be there to swarm the ball carrier. They all made mistakes at one time or another, but they stuck together & also made big plays.

IMO this reflects good coaching & players with the right mindset (which often starts w/ good leadership & examples from the star players). Unless they change their ways this team doesn't need whiners & complainers like Norman, Brown & M. Foster. I would approach them straight up & if they are going to continue w/ any of their crap I would show them the door (cap hit & all). I would also let P. Smith & Dix go elsewhere unless they agree to play for relatively cheap (doubt it). They might suffer short term, but this might help long term.

As for coaching - not sure why Manusky is still with the team. They need someone to shore up this defense & play as a solid unit throughout the season and game (not just in the beginning). It will take time, but it certainly is possible. Oh well - having said this - they will - as always - go in a completely different direction.

No. 1 defense lost yesterday to a backup and the No 18 offense.

No 2 defense lost also, although to a better offense.

Welp, so much for the "If only Kirk had a better defense" argument.:D (I know, it's a team game.)
