When I think of Roy Tarpley I remember a playoff game between Dallas and the Lakers back in the 80s and Tarpley was a monster. He had 19 points and 20 rebounds. I thought he was gonna be a star. Too bad he couldn't stay away from the drugs.

I just had no idea that Roy Tarpley was still an issue for the NBA, or that if he was clean and sober that he'd be able to play. Like I said, isn't he at least 40 years old?

Oh, just looked it up. He's a cool 50 years old. Born in 1964. I don't think that anyone near the age of 50 has ever played in the NBA. My focus wasn't on disparaging Tarpley, but on how the article and this issue was really very, very irrelevant.

It's not really news when it's decided that a 50 year old is not eligible to play in the NBA. I did not put Tarpley down, didn't joke about his past or call him names. Just making fun of the non-news on a somewhat fading forum.

Where's the "give me a break" sign when you need it? I'll have to go with "Geez!"

It was easy for him to mistake your post as a joke about his death being the reason that he was no longer eligible to play in the NBA.

Yep, I had no idea he'd died. I actually blame the person who wrote the article. Quite a misleading article title, but it's my bad for not reading it. I feel pretty stupid, but again, I had no idea he'd died.
