Bingo! Although he might have picked up some knowledge over the years. The point is that he is not qualified to make football personnel decisions. His job is to hire the head of the football organization (call him president, GM, whatever) and then sign the checks. He can then focus on non-football matters. That is basically what he has done during the Allen-Shanahan era.

I am less positive on Shanahan as a coach than many, but continuity isn't always a good thing. When the continuity is continuous losing, you need to shake things up. The argument of keeping Snyder out of personnel decisions is a good one, but hiring a legitimate GM can do that just as effectively. Spend the big bucks on quality management instead of guys like Albert haynesworth.

In fact, the only coach that I know that has won with more than one qb is Joe Gibbs.

He won with THREE qb's.

Shanahan has made over the redskins into a team that is not nearly as fiscally irresponsible, and actually has talent at many, but certainly not all, and perhaps not even most positions.

None of which is coaching. This is the same guy who watched the QB you mortgaged the hell out of your future for (correctly) barely able to walk and insisted on continuing to make play calls putting him in harms way play after play. He's an average coach.
