I'm a little perplexed by the negativity. I was discouraged by Mitch vs GB, but thought he made some very impressive plays tonight.

I think folks who expected him to be a finished product already were fooling themselves a little.
You're probably right. I know I was expecting more.

Do we want to see more from Trubisky? Maybe we all do. We look at the fact that he's been starting for 14 games or so

Maybe we simply want to believe that there is a natural progression just by being on an NFL team?

Truth is we really don't know how Fox/Loggains negatively affected his growth. (Just going from memory here) but Trubs was hardly under center in college, that was 1 of the knocks on him. If memory serves, Fox/Loggains essentially forced him to take snaps under center. Talk about forcing a square peg into a round hole. Makes me wonder what else the staff "forced" on Mitch?

Another point is Trubs learned behind Mike Glennon. Glennon may be a nice guy and a good film guy, but is he really the kind of QB we want to see "mentoring" our future franchise QB?

All of this changed at the end of 2017. New staff. New weapons. New philosophy. Mitch may actually be learning how to be a leader and a franchise QB just going back the last 2 games.

2017 may be a wash. Maybe Nagy had to de-program what Fox/Loggains did to him so he can train/develop him the right way.

I almost don't even count last year. Worst WR corps maybe in NFL history, and one of the lamest offenses possible, and despite all that, I actually thought he played admirably.

He is in a great spot this year, IMO. He's got a defense that looks to be one of the best in the league, or at least the potential to be. A solid running game, a bright, young offensive-minded coach, and all of the aforementioned are still relatively young and growing too.

Pace has built this team to be a contender for years to come, IMO.

Regarding the Bears' Offense as a whole, and particularly them "bogging down" a little after successful opening drives. I read today, that the Bears had one opening drive TD all of last season.

Fast starts are important, especially with a young team that has a good defense.

Now, obviously we'd all like them to be that successful every drive, but just a little perspective en sech

Best way to describe Trubisky: He's just okay. This is likely how his career will eventually end. We'll all just say he was okay"

I don't get it. Most QB's taken early in the draft are taken because their team stinks and has no QB. If they had a good QB to learn behind, they probably wouldn't be taken early. There's another long, long, long list... pro bowl/hall of fame QB's who came into the league with a sub-par QB group around them on the roster. Thank god Peyton Manning had Kaipo McGuire, Russell Wilson had Matt Flynn and Roethlisberger had Tommy Maddox.

If memory serves, Fox/Loggains essentially forced him to take snaps under center. Talk about forcing a square peg into a round hole. Makes me wonder what else the staff "forced" on Mitch?

It's the NFL. Yes, you HAVE to learn certain things to be a franchise QB. lol

I certainly don't need success every drive. However, only combining for 1 TD offensively after the first drive in our first two games is a bit brutal.

17 points was the magic number for the offense last year. Too many games to count we landed on or around that number. So far... 16 and 17. I think it will get better and better. However, it's a bit frustrating.

Never said it wasn't frustrating, was just trying to show a little positive perspective en sech.

It's not near as frustrating as scoring once on an opening drive in an entire season tho.

I was more encouraged by what i saw Monday night than on Sunday night. Trubisky had some moments. That first INT intended for Robinson was just underthrown, and that was because his feet weren't set. That's a pretty easy fix as his comfort level grows. The second INT was a good read and a good throw, just a good defensive play to end up in an INT. The bad throw to the end zone was worse than both combined, the one that just got knocked down by the DB.

You can see the Rodgers-esque escapability, improvisation and ability to throw on the run. That's really nice. Mitch looked more confident at times throwing the ball down the field a little bit, less so at times. All the tools are definitely there and he's mixing together some good and bad. A part of it seems to also be the playcalling isn't looking to get super aggressive considering the defense we've got, so they're moreso looking for sustained drives rather than big chunk plays.

I wouldn't be surprised if it all just clicks in one game, sorta out of no where somewhere around midseason and the offense takes a considerable jump forward as a result. Everything is in place, Mitch just needs to put the puzzle together.

This is what I've been thinking too and also what Nagy kind of hinted at in his presser.

I just think they need those 1-2 good performances to make everybody go "all right, we've got this" and exhale a bit. Once the rhythm is found, I think they grab a hold of it. I don't think we're as far as some seem to think. Just a couple of plays go our way - we could have easily posted 30-ish points offensively in either game.

Just to hit those couple of plays that they missed on. They'll get there.

It's ok. You actually helped prove my obviously ambiguous point that "coaching pedigree matters."

You mentioned two QB who may not have had a decent QB teammate to learn from on the roster, ended up on a heck of good coaching staff in Mora and Cower.

My apologies for not being more to the point.

As for Fox forcing Trubs under center. Couldn't disagree more. A good coach IMO uses a players strengths. Trubs had limited college game starts and zero time under center, so for Fox/Loggains to force that on him shows their ineptness IMO.

This is the dumbest combination of stupid comments I have read so far this year. Congratulations.
So who the coaches are and who he learns from on his roster doesn't matter to you. Got it.

If Mitch is going to succeed in this league, he is getting his best shot by being led by Nagy ... nagy is a really smart offensive mind. We Will probably see the ceiling of Mitch under nagy

Okay, this is pathetic. You MUST be joking with this cry baby straw man bull shit. Where did I say that? Point to it. Point to it... show me... you fucking jerk off. Wow

I said the stop-gap you come into the league in back of is a NON-ISSUE. As proven by the fact that tons are successful without a good QB in front of them. Why would you draft a QB in the top 5 overall if you had one? What the fuck do you want?

Do you understand how dumb that is? Oh, so the problem with Trubisky last year was not already having a good QB... when the reason we drafted a QB... was because we didn't have a QB.

I mean, holy shit. Holy shit. Holy shit. Holy shit. That's dumb

LMAO. Way to move the goal post to help to try and save your non-point.

You have to play under center in the NFL to become a franchise QB. You have to adapt as a QB in the NFL and learn how to play the game at a new level.

You know when you do it? A developmental year. You know what coaches are there for? To help you learn and optimize your growth. Help you overcome your weaknesses. You don't just prolong inevitable problems. You can't just do everything you did in college and hope to have a 15 year NFL career as a successful franchise QB.

Now... Just try debating honestly. Stop moving the goal posts. Stop being dishonest. Be a big boy.

The last point was for BS. :L

Glad it happened though. I try to contribute to the board. Just sharing opinions. Not claiming to be right. Even ex-players disagree.

A debate would be refreshing. Sadly most opposing posts are overbearing and include sarcasm and insults.

If that's how this board functions I'm not interested. Have fun guys.

Yeah, I lost it a bit. lol

Still... nothing I hate more than having my words twisted or words put in my mouth.

"So what you're saying is... (insert argument here that I never assert - but is 10x more convenient for you to attack)"

No, asshole... what I was saying - is exactly what I said. I might be a windbag sometimes, but it is only due to the fact that I go out of my way to be salient. Even if my point is dumb as shit - you should know my point. I re-iterate my points multiple different times in most of my posts... mostly because I love the smell of my own shit and hearing myself talk gets me hard.

God, I'm an ass... but f all dat noise
