Not just football season. Creighton gets 15,000 plus for home basketball games. What do they get for baseball? 300? In a stadium that seats over 20,000. They don't even keep that blue out for baseball season and they have a good team!!!

Funny how that works, isn't it? Those 300 people are the ACTUAL Creighton fans that exist out there. The ones who won't jump on and off the bandwagon as they please.

This would be like folks down in Kansas being fans of the Jayhawks basketball team and fans of the Wildcats football team. It's no different than that......and that is really fucked up.

They got a really good soccer team though. As though anyone good in the US would play NCAA soccer when you can actually make money in Europe.

I became a Creighton basketball fan back in 1977 or so, as a kid growing up in Boys Town. We often got tickets to the games donated to us. Tom Apke was a nice guy who never ran away from meeting troubled teens. I think it was Daryl Stovall who was rumored to be on the draft board for the Dallas Cowboys in 1979... ish. That was almost unheard of back then.

At the same time, I was introduced to Nebraska football, and later other Husker sports.
I remember when Joe Cipriano died. Jack Moore was my favorite player while he led the nation in free throws. I was listening the night he missed one to break his consecutive made streak at 100+. I worked with Dave Hoppen's grandmother and knew he was a Husker before ol' Slow Mo did.

Those of you who are so narrow of vision to limit yourself to one team are missing out on a lot of memories to look back on in 30 years.

it's not "one team" it's "one university"...and i wouldn't have a problem with creighton (still wouldn't cheer for them) if it wasn't for a good portion of their fans and how they act towards Nebraska basketball and the university as a whole, all the while cheering for our football team.

there's nothing wrong with talking shit about each other's programs, schools, etc. it's sports, and that happens. what i have a problem with is talking shit about said school, except when it comes to football season. in my opinion if creighton fans want to look down their nose at my basketball team and university, they can fuck off when it comes to being a fan of the football team.

So, what about those of us who want to support both? Check my history, I have said nothing any more derogatory about Husker hoops than some of the so called Husker fans on here have said about the football team. Even when comparing the two programs I give props to the bright future of the Husker program.
I understand why many Husker fans have a problem with Jays fans. I just don't think many Husker fans understand, or will admit to, why they have a problem with Creighton. I AM a Nebraska fan. But I am also a fan of the Bluejays.
I have been a fan of each for over 30 years and will continue to be.


Now, that is enough. It sucks typing this stuff when I have two finger bandaged up .

The thing that really put things into perspective for me was going to the bar that night to watch Nebraska play......

30 TVs in the joint.......29 of them have the Creighton game on and the 1 lonely little other TV had the Husker game.

That is fucked up.

That type of thing right there is what turns me off about Omaha Husker fans...

There's a disconnect and it's been increasingly obvious over the last decade.

I'm not saying a fan from Omaha is any less of a fan, but it seems like the term "die hard" is lost on a lot of them.
