Wei-Yin Chen is not happy about his demotion and he may have a point | Big League Stew - Yahoo Sports

By every measure, Baltimore Orioles starter Wei-Yin Chen has been one of the team's best pitchers this season. After tossing eight shutout innings against thePhiladelphia Phillies on Monday, Chen lowered his ERA to a strong 2.89.

His reward: How about a demotion to High-A?

The Orioles sent Chen down to the minors Tuesday, citing "general soreness," according to Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun. Chen must remain in the minors for 10-days before he can be recalled back to the majors.

[On this week's StewPod: Should fans really pick the MLB All-Stars?]

The 29-year-old made it clear he was not a fan of the move.

It's a tactical demotion to avoid a matchup with the Jays, who are positively stacked offensively against LHP's. It also allows them to keep Parmalee- who hit a HR yesterday I believe. Duquette may be cold and calculating about it, but it's not without reason. And no, it isn't "soreness."

Yeah, I figured it had to do something with the upcoming schedule.
