Post-game thread.

Well Russ looked fairly rusty. Not sure why everyone thought he looked sharp when he was consistently underthrowing receivers. Pickens bailed him out numerous times. But I do think he commanded the offense better giving better pre-snap reads & calling things out. He was better than I expected, but he hasn't played in a while so I'll give him some slack.

Defense largely struggled last night. But they came through in the 2nd half.

He provided a spark. I dont think it was as great as everyone makes it oit to be. But whether its the guys playing better for him or what. That was spromising. This team should be 6-2 heading into the bye

That spark can mainly be attributed to the fact that this staff TRUSTS Russ.... Whereas with Fields, they kept the training wheels on.

It's as simple as that.

You see a great deep ball, and I see a lot of underthrown balls that Pickens caught in spite of that.

Let me rephrase. Russ used to have a great deep ball. Im assuming the underthrows were rust. But again. You right. Myself or my buddy said that multiple times last night.

Rust, and not having played with these guys for very long. Hopefully it clicks better as he gets more reps. They are quickly approaching the difficult stretch of their schedule so they will need him to be clicking on all cylinders

I totally agree. The upside is the bye hopefully lets him regroup and shake the rust off running with the first team

If y'all keep starting RW and roll him with next season......the Raiders will be interested in Mr Fields next free agency.

Firing Getsy in the next week or 2 needs to happen. Fucking stooge should have never been hired.

RW's % wasn't great but overall he played really well. Expected him to be rustier than that.
That % was skewed by those misses earlier in the game. Those were bad, and I mean on a Mitch Trubisky level bad. Luckily for him, they were all into the ground and no chance for an INT.

Fields did earn himself a contract next year. Not sure if it will happen in Pittsburgh, but a team will bring him in.

I'd prefer the Steelers went with JF over Russ next year.

I would love to bring him in and help boost the running game and win games the way you guys did when he started....We got like 108 mill in salary cap space to add him, tweak the OL a little and add some defense.....draft a receiver and some backups.

With our defense I think we could do that.

I agree 100%. My concern is what Tomlin's ego will decide. If they play well the rest of the season and somehow win a playoff game, we all know Tomlin will ride Wilson into next year.

Maybe, just Maybe, Khan will step in and prove the cap hit for JF will be lower and better for this team.

I would also take RW in free agency as well.....Open to negotiations....rather than get a youngster and waste Crosby's best years waiting for a QB to develop.
