Ok so just like the Iowa Hawks moving up 3 spots in the ranking on a bye week, the Denver Broncos finally make my top 5. After the Steelers lose to the Cheifs and the Falcons look unimpressive enough to get back into the top 5 after a week away and the Steelers jumping ahead of them last week.

1. Patriots
2. Packers
3. Bengals
4. Panthers
5. Broncos

I still have a hard time putting the Broncos in my top 5 but at this point the few teams I had over them did not impress this week.

I should probably wait until after tonight's game to see how the Cardinals look, but here it is.

Denver finds a way not to lose, and we steadily march on.

Still not in the top 5.

This would be mine. I will say the Panthers though with that defense are looking very impressive. Kuechly flying all over the field plus maybe having the best Corner this season in Josh Norman. Man every one of my favorite 1st round pick players have been dominating in the NFL. I had said I would trade a 1st, 2nd, and 5th round pick to try and move up to get Kuechly as I thought he was one of those guys you build an entire defense around.

I might give up the same for the other LB they have,Davis. That guy is all over the place and def does not get the recognition he deserves with Kuch back there. Guy is a beast. Two great Lbs on that team.

Strange year with the multitude of teams being average or below average. Be interesting to see who stays on top once teams with winning records actually start playing each other.

It is amazing how far Josh Norman has come. From starter his rookie year, to nearly cut last year to a pro bowl season thus far. He plays a lot like Richard Sherman.

Cardinals have the 2nd best scoring offense and a top 8 scoring defense. Cardinals over Denver at this point.
Love the Honey Badger. With Manning's weak ass arm and poor decision making , the Cardinals and Panthers would blitz the hell out of Denver. Use to not be the case to blitz Manning

The Cardinals just seem like a feast or famine type team this year. They have either dominated or just looked down right terrible. I just don't know what to expect from them week in and week out. It is why I would put Denver over them knowing that our defense pretty much every week is going to show up and keep us in almost every game.

Again , top 5 are the undefeated teams:

Packers
Patriots
Bengals
Broncos
Panthers

I also refuse to place a 5-2 team ahead of a 6-0 team. So that eliminates the Cardinals for the time being.

Cardinals are not a fluke. With Palmer they are like 13-4 over the last 17 games plus the first couple games of the year are glorified preseason anyways and have has zero bering on what the team is like in week 7.

But didn't they just lose to the Roethlisberger less Steelers who then turned around and lost to the Charlesless Chiefs? This wasn't first couple of games this was less than 2 weeks ago.

^^^ This is all true. Denver's offense really bugs me and how much longer can they depend on the defense scoring points to win games and cover for their inepitude. To me, they don't pass the eye ball test of a top 5 team. In this case, I dont not believe Bill Parcells when he said " you are what your record says you are."

While I don't think the Broncos are the top team in the league I guess to me that defense is good enough to beat at least 25 of the teams in the league even with the offense playing the way it is. Look at the Seahawks in 2014. They had a stretch from November 16 to the close of the season that here is their points output...20, 19, 19, 24, 17, 35, 20. That averages out to 22 points per game. They went 6-1 during that stretch because the defense carried them. When you realize they played 4 of those games against teams with winning records it just shows that a dominating defense can keep a team in every game even while an offense works to find itself.
Now honestly this Sunday will go a long way in determining some of my thoughts about this team moving forward. This is truly the first big test of the season coming off a Bye week in which I am hoping the offense got some things figured out. Just have to see. Right now though because of that dominating defense, good special teams play, and an offense that has actually looked better minus the turnovers makes me think this team is trending in the right direction.

Ugh

Not sure the Pats aren't going 16-0. You have to get a lead on them otherwise you will lose by 20. Jets did and should have gone up by 8 had BMarsh caught a TD. 20-2 in their last 22 games. One loss was a meaningless game at Buf to end last season the other a road loss by 5 to GB. Add in the deflategate motivation and they are on a rampage just like 2007 Spyhate.

Also like this stat on the Cardinals (thanks CD) . The best balanced team by a mile. The balance was the primary reason I like them in my top 5 .

A very accurate metric is predicting the Denver Broncos beat the Green Bay Packers

I agree the Patriots look like an unstoppable force. Pretty much looks like injuries or an uncharacteristically bad game on their part is about the only thing that might slow them down. I do think the Jets at home will stand a very good chance as they do have the perfect formula of a great running game and an opportunistic defense that maybe they catch them on a bad day. We maybe stand a chance in the fact that it is in Denver and Brady has historically done terrible in Denver.

Now as for the Cardinals believe me I actually really like them as a team. My biggest concern with them is two-fold...1) They have played a pretty easy schedule so far where this 2nd half of the season will really amp up for them so going to be interesting to see if they can continue to hold that stat. 2) Consistency as I said before where they can go from looking like the most dominant team in football to that of struggling to beat some of the weaker teams. I just wish we saw a bit more consistency on both sides of the ball.
