I'm a bit confused on your position Sty. . You have made it clear that the Green Bay model of grooming Rogers for several years was the way to go. Now you are saying months which is a total departure from your earlier position.

Not sure why you would prop up a guy like Nick Foles to use to prove your point but he was starting for an injured Vick in his rookie season and the full time starter in year 2. Vick was the full time starter in Atlanta by Year 2 . These other franchise QBs were full time starters by Year 2, most started their rookie sesson: Rothlisburger, Ryan, Luck, Brees, Newton, Wilson, Peyton, Palmer as well as Super Bowl winners Eli and Flacco. So in case you still believe the Rogers model is the only way to go, well it isn't.

No one said that it was the ONLY way to go. The current question at hand was to name top 15 draft picks who sat prior to starting. No time period was attached to his question. There was little connection to my position which is to set up those QB programs and let them learn. How long they sit depends on their ability to fully grasp what's required to do the job. I stand by my position.

i am not sure how i amped up anything . if you are giving an HC 2 years to win before wanting him gone you cant take a 1st round resource and sit him

I may have misread your reply - sorry. However - read mine - I am not advocating taking a QB in the 1st round by any means. However - I also don't think that you keep a coach who doesn't appear to be NFL ready around just for the sake of continuity. Gruden has the rest of this season to prove that he is a legit NFL coach. He certainly didn't prove it last season & has not for the most part this season (regardless of injuries and lack of talent). I also hate the coaching carousel for this team but don't want to see them retain someone who is going to hold back the team.

ok so question is when do we break the cycle ? 2 years or less and you are gone . 3 of the last 4 have gone that way (including gruden if it comes to pass)

i dont think the guy has got the team he wants/needs yet

This is a tough one. Dad is right, only a desperate coach comes here given our record of going through coaches. But that doesn't mean you keep Gruden if you've come to the conclusion that he isn't the right guy. And I, for one, am beginning to question if Gruden is HC material, if for no other reason than his team is rarely ready to play. Between penalties, piss poor in game adjustments, and general lack of fire (especially in the second half), Gruden has regularly been out coached. But I also recognize the shit storm he inherited. Let's just see how the rest of this year plays out. If things don't improve, you don't keep him just to appear more coach friendly to the rest of the league.
