I agree Sonny my parents barely hit me and I have never touched my son in 17 years old and he is polite and respectful. When they see their parents being douchebags or hand around thugs, then the worst happens. Spanking never stopped me from doing anything but the shame or hurt it would cause my hard working parents did.

Totally agree. My parents were split when i was young. My dad would hit me with things, belt, shoe, whatever. My mom only spanked me, and did it when I was REALLY bad. We had a great relationship so most of the time we would talk about what I did and figure out other methods of punishment. I know that if it reached the level of her putting her hands on me, i had REALLY fucked up. I can say without doubt that her method was much more effective, and helped me not only stay on the straight and narrow but also tought me patience.
