Before I respond, I must first google "NBA" to find out what that is.

I had to do the same thing to find out who Armando Galarraga is. Appearantly he works at Starbucks now.

I really think that the NBA needs some stars that have a little more humble, simple, normal-like personalities. Instead, they all hold themselves above everyone else, live extravagantly, and are extremely cocky. That, and the fact that the game is predictable and boring, are why I don't watch.

I get that, but to publicly state it is more important to have superstars in large markets is a slap in the face of every small market team out there.

As much as I hate the Heat, I do not think those kind of teams are bad for the league. There is a salary cap and if players want to take a cut to win championships, I am all for it.

I still don't see me watching pro basketball even if it does become a trend, It is just my expert opinion on a sport I, unlike most people on this board, could care less about ;)

And calling it watered down that they would force the league to spread out talent and give others a chance to compete? Ridiculous.

I don't get the NHL jab. Ever since the lockout with the "watered down product", the NHL has grown in popularity, not shrunk.

Well I think the idea is a franchise player. If this were in place Bosh and James would still be with their previous teams. And that seemed to work out well for the most profittable sport in the US.

LOL

He wouldn't be working at Starbucks had Jim Joyce used the two fucking eyes God gave him. :D

You can't kill the goose that laid the golden egg and then wonder why your sport has become irrelevant. (Witness: the NHL.)

LOL. I cant wait till the NBA lockout so the NHL can take a swing at blowing the league out of the fucking water

EDIT: This is also an analogy fail.

It depends on what you consider bad for the sport. Sure tv ratings might go up for televised games, but tickets in these smaller markets will decrease as well as people buying the NBA PPV package since all the large market superstar games will be the nationally televised games to begin with. Look at baseball, it is dying on the vine since the smaller markets cant realistically compete. There stadiums are empty for the most part.

Oh, the NHL's irrelevant? Example in Boston, right? With their "Super Star Model"? Yeah, well, guess which game got a better rating in Boston between the Celtics/Lakers finals and the Bruins/Canucks?

The NBA is facing the possibility of a lockout/work stoppage. I imagine the other 25 teams have to be ticked off at the way the league is right now. At least Dwight Howard hasn't gone to Orlando management & said trade me to the Lakers or else. At least not yet.

If you put all your eggs in only a few baskets, the league won't survive. It's boring when you KNOW who's going to win. It's boring when you expect the same matchups every year, and the same fan bases are pouring money into the league. Basically, it's a bunch of untapped resources. And the guy says "who wants to see the Bucks in the Finals?" Personally, I'd probably watch then.

The only teams I ever hear of are the Celts, Lakers, Heat, Dirk himself sometimes, and the Cavs before LeBron left.

Kind of like baseball on ESPN with the Yanks and Sox as if they are the only MLB teams.

Seriously. They had a thing up last night with a scoreboard from around the league, and the anchor said "and if you look at the top left, the Red Sox beat the Marlins". O....K. Yeah, I see that.
