The added punch of James Neal is much needed. This Penguins' team was even more shorthanded than usual, and I really love the effort they went out and gave tonight.

Koon's back next game as well. And apparently Letestu isn't far off? I could be wrong there. But regardless, any help is good help. And getting Niskanen would be lovely...oh, and a healthy Martin.

Regardless of how well the tandem is doing now, in the regular season, I really feel like come playoff time, you need to name one. It just seems to me that they have to find a groove in the playoffs and be into the series to make an impact. In and out just doesn't work (don't even say it...).

I agree, it doesn't. Both have had flashes of greatness and both have had some really piss poor games. I think Varly is the better goalie, but Neuvy is more concistant....Think its a wait and see situation, and hopefully it'll play itself out

He had already commented that he did see it and he used it as motivation the last time the two faced off.

I don't mean we "own" them in the sense that we dominated tonight (it was a tight game that I thought we had just a little more effort and talent in), but we are trending VERY strong against this team the last few years.

I only caught the 3rd period, but it definitely showed that you can still have fantastic exciting hockey without any goals. Very few whistles, fast-paced, intense hockey. Took a bit of the sting out of the loss.

I also love the experience our WBS guys are getting. I think it will bring the team together. I mean, who were we missing tonight, outside the obvious big 2? Letestu, Kunitz, Asham at least. Gogo and Martin on the back end. Tangradi, N. Johnson and D. Jeffrey too, come to think of it. It would be easy for this team to mail it in with all the injuries and a comfortable position in the standings, but they haven't. I know we're not willing a whole lot, but I love the intensity.

Congrats on your win, Caps, but don't get cocky. There's a decent chance we'll meet in the first round, and imagine the team you just played, 39 shots and all, with the addition of Crosby, Neal, Kunitz, Letestu, etc... and hopefully Kovalev

The only team I'm sure we'd beat in a playoff series right now is the Pens! The other 7... I have a hard time seeing a series win (much less 3 in a row) unless the scoring improves. But yeah, I like our chances vs. the Pens.

Yeah...basically everyone is feeling pretty confident against the Pens in the playoffs. Right now that is. Who knows, only time and healing will tell. Just gotta scrap it out until then.
