Yeah, saw that a few days ago.

That article is what happens when somebody from DC tries writing about a team he knows nothing about.

Interesting read by the Washington Post. For the first time in years, the Mariners are pretty relevant nationally, despite their lack of games on any of the major networks. Hopefully they live up to the hope.

Felix Hernandez? Robinson Cano? No, the Mariners most important player is Taijuan Walker - The Washington Post

I understand what he's getting at. But, Walker is our team's most important player only if other key players (Felix, Cano, Seagar, Cruz, Iwakuma, etc) do what they are expected to do. A good, complete season from Walker could be a 3 or 4 win swing, which could be huge when all is said and done. But, it won't mean anything if Felix comes up with a TJ or Cano gets hurt in game 65 or Cruz gets frustrated by the Pacific Northwest marine layer and goes into a season-long funk.

Have to agree with this. Walker will be the most important person if every player performs to at least last years numbers or better. Personally for it comes down to either Cruz or Rodney. If Cruz can live up to his ability in Seattle then theoretically it should make other players numbers better and I put Rodney in there because he walks the line of blowing every save, it won't matter how well Walker pitches if Rodney or the pen blow it.

I agree... I see what the write were trying to say and I don't necessarily disagree with his rationalism... We have expectations for our all stars and that's, well, play like an all star again this season... If we can get a guy like Walker pitch at a high level, snagging us 11 or 12 plus wins, that in itself makes him one of the teams most important players in terms of getting us an additional 4 or 5 wins from that #5 spot in the rotation... A better way to frame it from this writer would be saying that Walker is the Wildcard for this team...
