It is why I said the league and NFL are doing a solid for the football team by holding the draft in Washington to help the city pay for the new stadium with taxes collected from all the people coming to the city.I listen to one of radio people in DC it was either Jp finly or Sheehan they said 1 superbowl and 1 draft would generate enough money for new stadium plus all the concerts etc etx
Wait wait one Super Bowl and one draft will generate the revenue to cover the amount the city will be responsible for which was reported at 1.1 billion dollars? I find that impossible to believe.I listen to one of radio people in DC it was either Jp finly or Sheehan they said 1 superbowl and 1 draft would generate enough money for new stadium plus all the concerts etc etx
According to them Kc vs eagles generated 1.8 billionWait wait one Super Bowl and one draft will generate the revenue to cover the amount the city will be responsible for which was reported at 1.1 billion dollars? I find that impossible to believe.
Is that total dollars spent or direct tax revenue to the city? I'm going to suggest it's the former.According to them Kc vs eagles generated 1.8 billion
Economic impact is not a direct profit figure to the city. It is the total dollars spent for an event. It is measured by the increase in wages, revenue from hotel rooms, dinners out etc that was created by this specific event. This is not the figure the city receives in dollars and cents.Washington won't make the entire $1.1 billion, see bekiw ... $238 million or about a 4th of what DC would have to pay for the new stadium.
"Washington D.C. could net a significant amount from hosting the 2027 NFL Draft, potentially exceeding the $236 million economic impact seen in Las Vegas for the 2022 draft. This would be part of a larger $3.7 billion development project, including a new stadium for the Washington Commanders and a mixed-use development. The D.C. Council must still approve the agreement."
What a new stadium does is bring in MORE money each year to the city. Of course to the Harris Group and the NFL too. The point or my point 2027 NFL draft in DC is this is a good faith investment by the NFL to help the team get there new stadium built. One thing to remember is the DC City Council will vote on this .... this summer.
Josh said he has a backup plan which I have to believe is building the new stadium at it's current site. Governor Wes Moore would love to have the stadium.
For those who don't remember Jack Kent Cooke spent his own money to build the current stadium. He wanted to put it in Alexandria where the old Potomac Yards (trains) was. VA and Alexandria wouldn't approve it. His next plan was to put in Laurel, MD but the state said no. The one place that would let him build the stadium was the sight between 214 and 202. Not a great site or neighborhood and it had little room for growth for businesses. It will be interesting to see if DC allows the stadium. Mayor Bowser, Josh Harris and the NFL are doing all they can to make it happen.

WHAT IS ECONOMIC IMPACT?
Economic impact begins w whhen an organization spends money. Economic impact studies measure the direct economic impact of an organization’s spending, plus additional indirect spending in the economy as a result of direct spending. Economic impact has nothing to do with dollars collected by institutions, their profitability or even their sustainability, since all operating organizations have a positive economic impact when they spend money and attract spending from outside sources.
This is a strange bug, when I quoted your post I can see the entire post. But when I read your post it's cut off as it is doing here.I believe I said that if you read ...t in DC will have but it beats not having it.
