Was RGIII really a Shanahan guy?

Going into the 2012 draft, we all know that we needed a QB. The majority of us knew that we wanted RGIII to be the QB. We all knew his talents, as many others did. However, a friend of mine and a few other people believe that Shanny was not a fan of RGIII, though I disagree. Some believe Dan Snyder was behind that choice, though we all know that Snyder has taken a backseat as a so-called GM. Also, we all have seen the drama between RGIII and Shanny over the injury. The question is, what do most of you all believe?

I believe that if Snyder had forced the pick of RG3 onto Shanahan, Mike would simply have walked. Dan probably wanted the pick, and he as owner did sign off on the trade to some level. But this was Mikes call all the way.

That's what I believe, too. Mike Shanahan is no fool, when it comes to QBs. He knew gold, when it glittered with RGIII, last year. If he was so hell-bent on getting just any QB, he'd have reached for those projects in the 2011 draft. I wonder if he had an eye on Kaepernick, at all?

Actually, the first initial trade with the Rams was for Bradford. Shanny wanted Bradford first then RG3. Synder made the bold move to throw in the 2014 1st rounder to outbid Cleveland to land RG3. Synder deserves a lot of credit for landing RG3. Not many owners would have given up 2 first round picks and a high 2nd for a rookie QB. Some may call it desperate or some may call it smart. But who cares it worked. The Skins are closer to the Super Bowl then the Rams and that is what it is all about.

Rumor is that Shanahan wanted Bradford in his draft year. I have never heard he wanted to trade for Bradford instead of getting the No. 2 pick in the draft and thereby assuring they drafted either Luck or Griffin. Most suspect Fisher aided the Redskins in securing the trade because Fisher and Shanahan are friends.

It came out they wanted to get Bradford first. I don't know what they offered for Bradford. Redskins uped the offer before the Browns did and we got him. If Synder didn't throw in the 2014 pick, RG3 would have been a Brown.

I was one of the biggest critics against the trade because of cost.

But this being admitted, is there a Redskins fan on the PLANET thats upset over us making the move?? browns fans... likely hate us. Fans of other NFCEast teams.. same deal. But you will get no buyers remorse from Skins fandom. :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

Shanahan did want Bradford the year Bradford was drafted. But they didn't have the draft pick ammo to move up to #1 overall that year.

They settled for plan B, which was McNabb.

In the end though we finally got our QB. And at a much smaller contract figure than what the Rams had to pay for Bradford on a rookie contract.

This is all speculation. There has been no concrete reports stating any of this. I don't see how RG3 wasn't Shanahan's guy considering how much they developed the offense around his skill set so soon. I mean, they had him learning the playbook damn near prior to the draft, lol.

There has been no drama between Shanahan and RG3.

The drama was between Shanahan and Dr. Andrews. Chalk that up to miscommunication.

It's just a guess but my guess is that it was all on Shanahan. I don't recall an owner wanting to commit that many future picks on a rookie. Shanahan had back-to-back losing season and a 3rd consecutive losing season would probably have resulted in him being fired. The Redskins weren't going to win with Grossman or Beck so I thought Shanahan would make a move for someone. They paid a fair price for a special talent.

I remember when the Redskins were still scouting RG3. They went down to his hometown in Texas, and dined with him. They found out about his upbringing, which reaffirmed that they were getting exactly who they wanted. 1 week later, Kyle Shanahan was traveling back and forth to get Robert up to speed on the playbook. Also, RG3 stopped conducting private workouts.

Shanahan was all in, the whole time.

Watching Shanahan gush all over RGIII at the Baylor pro day is all you need to see just how enamored he was with Bob. Laughing at all his jokes. Twirling his hair with his fingers.
