Height: 6-5. Weight: 250.
40 Time: 4.86.
Projected Round (2014): 2-3.
5/5/14: Murphy has a well-rounded skill set as he is a good pass-rusher with quickness and strength. Murphy defends the run well and has good instincts. He also has the athletic ability to drop into pass coverage. Murphy looks like a great fit as a 3-4 OLB in the NFL. He would be drafted higher if he was faster and had more explosion off the snap.

Murphy had a mixed performance at the Senior Bowl and wasn't good enough to help his first-round prospects. At the Combine, Murphy confirmed that he is a second-day pick and not a first-rounder.

In 2013, Murphy totaled 15 sacks, 24.5 tackles for a loss, 62 tackles, six passes batted, one forced fumble and an interception returned 30 yards for a touchdown. He led the nation in sacks.

Murphy recorded two sacks of San Jose State quarterback David Fales in the 2013 season opener. Murphy had an interception returned for a 30-yard touchdown against Washington State. Versus Washington, he had two sacks and deflected a pass that was intercepted near the end zone late in the fourth quarter to protect Stanford's narrow win over the Huskies.

Murphy played well against Oregon and was an animal against Oregon State, totaling eight tackles, 2.5 sacks, two batted passes and 4.5 tackles for a loss. He came close to a number of other sacks and was living in the backfield all night. Murphy was held in check by Notre Dame left tackle Zack Martin, and totaled just two tackles and .5 tackles for a loss. While Stanford fell in a road upset to USC, Murphy was phenomenal for the Cardinal. He had eight tackles with four tackles for a loss and two sacks. Murphy had a quality game against Michigan State in the Rose Bowl.

8/12/13: Murphy was perhaps the best player on Stanford's tough defense in 2012. That is saying something with other good prospects like Ben Gardner, Henry Anderson, Ed Reynolds, Chase Thomas and Shayne Skov all being legitimate pro prospects.

Murphy is a physical force who beats linemen with power and technique. He also has speed to get by as an edge-rusher. Murphy totaled 56 tackles with 10 sacks, 18 tackles for a loss, four passes broken up, one interception and a forced fumble last season. He racked up 40 tackles with 10 tackles for a loss and 6.5 sacks in 2011.

Murphy is a versatile player who has lined up in a variety of spots in Stanford's 3-4 defense.

Morgan Moses, OT, Virginia
Height: 6-6. Weight: 314.
40 Time: 5.35.
Projected Round (2014): 1-2.
5/7/14: The top four offensive tackles are expected to go in the top 20 picks, so Moses has a shot at going to a tackle-needy team picking in the final 12 selections of the first round. WalterFootball.com spoke with teams picking early in the second round, and they don't believe that Moses will make it to Friday night.

Moses did not impress in his Combine workout, but that isn't the environment to illustrate what he does well. Moses had a good week at the Senior Bowl. He could use some work on his body to drop some flab and improve his strength, but he did well in the one-on-ones and showed his pass-protection potential.

Moses didn't play against BYU to start 2013, but he came back for Week 2 against Oregon. Moses stayed in the lineup after that to put together a quality senior season. Late in the year, he had an impressive performance against Miami.

8/9/13: Moses was the starter at right tackle on the other side from Oday Aboushi over the past two years. Moses was a solid player and capable run-blocker. He will need to improve his overall game and his pass protection, especially. Moses could stay at right tackle or move inside to guard in the NFL.

Spencer Long, G, Nebraska
Height: 6-5. Weight: 320.
Projected 40 Time: 5.25.
Projected Round (2014): 3-5.
5/7/14: Long played well for Nebraska in 2013 before going down with a torn ACL. The senior could be a steal in the 2014 NFL Draft, as he was a potential top-100 selection before the injury. Long didn't work out at the Combine. A number of teams brought in him on pre-draft visits.

8/8/13: Long was solid for Nebraska in 2012 with improved pass protection. He was a tough run-blocker who had a lot of success opening up holes in the ground game.

The former walk-on was an All-Big Ten performer in a breakout sophomore season in 2011. He was a leader on a Cornhuskers' line that averaged 217 yards per game in 2012. Long did a very good job opening up holes for running back Rex Burkhead and quarterback Taylor Martinez.

Long has some mobility and added strength over the past year. If the senior comes through with an impressive 2013, he should move up higher on the second day of the 2014 NFL Draft.

When you are 3-13, you shouldn't be fiddling with much of anything. If he was the best player available it is fine, but to toy around with an idea is stupidity.

They took him because they felt he was BPA. At this point, he won't be playing ahead of RAK, so they may fiddle with getting him on the field inside.

Why don't you get it? Why do you believe the likes of Todd McShay over the redskins scouts? McShay has been proven wrong way more than he is right. You understand that guys like McShay don't really scout players, right? They don't interview coaches, teammates, etc. they don't do medical reviews. All they might do is look at some film and look at their combine results. Team scouts do way more than that.

I did. You still got the player you coveted and we picked up an extra G who was considered one of the best in the country before his injury. An injury that he is expected to fully recover from. What's not to like?

Why don't you get it? Why do you believe the likes of Todd McShay over the redskins scouts? McShay has been proven wrong way more than he is right. You understand that guys like McShay don't really scout players, right? They don't interview coaches, teammates, etc. they don't do medical reviews. All they might do is look at some film and look at their combine results. Team scouts do way more than that.

Trusting the Redskins scouts is a tough thing to do. We are the worst drafting team in the past 10 years and its proven. Allen's draft history in Tampa was nothing short of a disaster. He is the GM and while I love his knowledge about cap space, he is not a talent evaluator.

I honestly don't really trust our scouting department as they haven't given me a reason to. McShay is one of the better ones out there. He is obviously better than Kiper and some of the other so-called pundits. Bottom line is that the front office hasn't really given us a reason to put full faith and trust in them for years. They need to earn that I hope they do.

Our draft picks have been awful for years, so yes....I do trust someone like McShay or Pollin over our current scouts. I honestly think we would be a better team if we would have taken some of their players versus some of the ones Vinny, Shanahan and others went after.

Bottom line is that I hope the new regime or whatever you want to call them are successful and make outstanding picks. I hope these guys earn their paycheck and build this team through the draft. It might take a year or so but I hope it all works out.

The problem is that I have been saying this for years and I say it everytime a new front office takes over. I wish we would have promoted Allen to President and hired a young, energetic GM who will be in charge of the draft and building a roster. There really isn't any transparency with our FO now as Campbell, Brown and Allen appear to be running the show but we really don't know who is doing what. Hopefully Allen is working with the numbers while Brown and Campbell are finalizing the picks and making the roster moves. Not sure that is happening though.

I like the trade down because we got a extra pick however I believe we reached on taking Murphy and Long while everyone is happy about Moses. Teams like 49ers can reach on players that you have time to wait till they develop but us redskins need starters today not next year. Just imagine the reactions if the skins didn't take Moses, he is the only reason some of us aren't throwing our empty beer bottles at the tv.

5/5/14: Breeland is one of many players who entered the 2014 NFL Draft when they shouldn't have. In 2013, Breeland had 74 tackles, five tackles for a loss, 10 passes broken up and four interceptions. He improved as the season progressed and could have gone earlier in the future with further improvement for Clemson. Breeland started five games as a sophomore and played in 10 games total. He had 32 tackles with three passes broken up. Breeland was slightly disappointing at the Combine, but he could still end up going on the second day of the 2014 NFL Draft.
