He deserved a shot with the Leafs last year.

I think he deserves some (sheltered) playing time somewhere and probably deserved at least a look in Toronto, but ultimately he was a left-handed guy who's really lousy defensively (and not in the fake PK Subban OMG he gives the puck away sometimes way) and provides the majority of his value on the power play. Not much of a fit on a team that already has Gardiner, Phaneuf and Rielly playing those minutes and filling those roles.

If a team needs a backup/AHL goalie Jeff Zatkoff was waived by the Penguins today.

Boston trades Boychuk for 2 second round picks from the Islanders. I understand it was totally a salary cap move, but still . . . . The kids the Bruins got will probably play in Providence if they are lucky.

I was surprised at that. I though Zatkoff did well in Wilkes-Barre and I would have liked to have seen him back there. I know the Pens have a couple goalies coming up, but I didn't think they could replace him yet. Maybe they'll sign him if no one claims him off of waivers.

If no one claims him he will go to WBS, which I hope happens. I don't think Hartzell is much of an AHL goalie, so I think Zatkoff will be useful in WBS to help protect Murray. Also if Greiss or Fleury get hurt he will be needed.

I agree. Zatkoff wasn't that bad when he spotted for Fluery last year. Would like to see him back in goal for Wilkes-Barre.
