Maybe it's because the player personnel guy won't come here unless his title is GM and he has control ( he did just reject Oakland bcause they wanted him to work under McKenzie). It's rare that a solid guy like that rejects form (Mckenzie) in favor of dysfunction (Allen). Stranger things have happened though.

do we know if he had final say over personnel ? do we know the story is even true ?

and if the plan is to kick allen upstairs for PR and contract work then he pretty much will control the meat of the operation wouldnt he ?
