Kings and NHLPA should appeal immediately.
The man has served his punishment time AND has been unable to make at a living at his profession in the league he is qualified to play in for almost 4-1/2 years.

It's not that he did it so much as he did it right in the wake of Ray Rice and the massive backlash in the NFL. So it's just the image of it, rather than the act.

Also, instead of dealing with it, he moved away and played in Russia. NHL using him as an example still.



I sort of look at it like good news. Right in line with my outlook on two summers from now, the Kings will be looking much different. Not sure Kings even get Voynov after all this, but still. Two summers...

I think he will appeal. He has spent almost 2 years not playing anywhere because he was suspended indefinitely , not including the years he played in Russia . The charges have been dismissed. Austin Watson was suspended 27 games and that was reduced to 18.
Voynov is over 150 games already

Voynov update: NHLPA has filed an appeal on behalf of Voynov, according to NHLPA. Appeal will be heard be an impartial arbitrator.

ESPN article made it sound like NHL / Bettman said we would be free to sign with any team after reinstatement.

Mayors Manor article says Kings still own his rights, and will trade him rather than sign.

Wonder if he can get stint in AHL for conditioning just prior to 41 games. Besides, if the Kings do not own his rights, what constitutes 41 games? After the King's 41st game, or after the 41st game of "X" team trying to sign him??

He possibly could but that means he would need to be on the active roster so it'll have to happen after the 41st game passes (for the Kings, not any other team since they own his rights as he is on the VRL, Voluntary Retirement List). After that he can be assigned to Ontario for a maximum of 14 days or 7 games, whichever comes first.

The Kings will still own his rights once his 41 game suspension is served, but I wouldn't be surprised if Blake is fishing for a trading partner as we speak. Perhaps something happens at the draft and he gets moved?

It's probably one of the few locations where the fans would put morals aside to address a team need (a skilled, RH defender. Yeah TO fans, remember that's what Jake Muzzin played according to you fools?). They are so delusional and desperate for a Cup they would welcome him no question IMO.

On the flip, it's also one one of, if not the biggest, city under the NHL microscope. Don't think Uncle Gary would approve of Voynov going to the most visible city in the league and putting a blemish on the NHL.

Their whole cap situation is bad optics. Dubas is an arrogant cocky little shit, a few months ago he was saying he will have no problem keeping the band together and fitting everyone under the cap, not worried about Offer Sheets, blah blah blah.

Oh look, you have a few good young players coming off manageable contracts and one who will be yet another 8 figure salary on your roster now in addition to Tavares and Matthews.

Unless Colorado planned on trading him again or if another team was involved who needs a defender and they somehow acquired the 4th I can't see that happening. Colorado is pretty set on defense and I think will hang onto the pick and take one of the forwards.

If Byram isn't available at 5 I see the Kings taking one of Dach or Cozens since most likely Turcotte will be off the board and obvious Hughes and Kaako will be as well.

I think Colorado is all in on best player available, so I don't that Byram being there at 5. And who's to say Kings even take him at 5th if he were there. Of all the players, he just seems to have the most hype after those first 2.

One more day! Hoping for a nice haul overall, but no one ever really knows until 2-4 years down the line anyway. So we'll just have to wait and see.

Futa has been really talking about Dach, I would not be surprised if they took him. The Kings have zeroed in on two players at the 5 spot but obviously not tipping their hand, my money is on Dach being one of them.
