R.I.P.
Legendary voice of the Dodgers for more than half a century going back to their last years in Brooklyn and then out to LA up until 2016. Great announcer. Smooth, friendly and knowledgable.
Used to listen to him when I lived in SoCal in the late 70's and early 80's on KTTV Ch.5 and KABC radio w/ Jerry Doggett & Ross Porter. ("brought to you by Farmer John")
He's seen it all.
Truly one of a kind.
They don't make them like that anymore.

RIP Vin
Absolutely the GOAT and in this case there is no debate.the GOAT of announcers
RIP Vin
He was really good at bringing up obscure tidbits of info. The best ever. Probably the last announcer to actually put in the work to research the opposing teams players in depth. He must have had a rolodex with facts on every single player.
And he could tell these wild stories while smoothly commenting on the game at the same timeHe was really good at bringing up obscure tidbits of info.
Exactly....his transition was flawless. And he could tell these wild stories while smoothly commenting on the game at the same time
"There was one time I went ice skating with Jackie Robinson and his wife....that pitch to Piazza is low, now it's 2 and 1...and she was 7 months pregnant and I was nervous for her out there..."
Yeah he was amazing, as there's a deep drive to left by Castellanos and that will be a homerunAnd he could tell these wild stories while smoothly commenting on the game at the same time
