Weighs in at the combine at 6'3 246 almost 30 lbs heavier than last year's playing weight. Also the Bengals met with Bud Dupree at the combines.

Sure.... Lets draft a dude that's at least 30 pounds too light to play defensive end in the NFL. He can model all the pro shop gear on the sideline while our fans talk about how great we'll be when we switch to a 3-4.

Except he isn't a DE, he would be a LB like Von Miller.

Vic Beasley 6-3 246 There is ample proof that Beasley has the size to play DE in the NFL.
-------------------------------
Elvis Dumervil 5-11 255
Dwight Freeney 6-1 268
Von Miller 6-3 250
Chris Clemons 6-3 254
Jerry Hughes 6-2 254
Bruce Irvin 6-3 248
Dee Ford 6-2 252

He definatley sounds like a better fit as a 3-4 OLB but I'd be OK with the pick. They'd have to find creative ways to use him other than as a situational pass rusher to be worth it

If Jaelen Strong is on the board in the 1st rd the Bengals should take him. The only way to get Dalton to play better is to surround him with better players. He'd be a perfect complement to AJ

You guys trust Marvin to draft and develop a tweener? LOL.

August -- A lot of the guys you mention are linebackers. How often do the Bengals use outside linebackers to rush the quarterback? Hell, even when we had James Harrison, he rarely rushed the qb because he was a linebacker for us.

So you like him as a linebacker in our defense? Is he good in coverage? Because that's all he'd do here.

To be fair the only tweener I can think of who was a bust under ML was D Pollack and he was an injury bust.

Once you get into the 20s it's almost impossible to find a prototype player at a premium position (OT, QB, pass rusher). You have to gamble on someone who's undersized or who has another another major issue.

He'd have to be used as a hybrid player who plays OLB on 1st and 2nd down and rushes the passer in sub packages.

Also Harrison played OLB when Dunlap and Johnson we're here making it more difficult to utlize him as a situational pass rusher,

I'll agree it'd be better for his own career if he goes to a 3-4 team

Actually most of these guys are DE's, the only LBer's I listed would be Miller, Ford and Irving. And they would even be considered hybrids. The rest play with their hands on the ground. But it doesn't matter now, after the combine that he had this weekend there is no way he slides to the Bengals at the 21st pick. His stock is officially in the caught fire category.

Wouldn't touch Vic Beasley with a 10 foot pole. Not with this coaching staff. Hes another Aaron Maybin in my opinion. We haven't broken a neck in a few years so maybe he can be our next David Pollack.

If we were to take a chance. Here's one guy I'd like to see the Bengals take a flyer on: Dorial Green-Beckham. Most gifted WR I've seen, maybe ever. Except personality wise , on a scale of 1-10, he's about a -3

Dummervil is a linebacker for the Ravens. He does not play with his hand down on the line.

Freeney was long described as an undersized defensive end. Yet, he's 20 pounds more than Beasley's combine weight (which is much heavier than he ever played).

Von Miller plays linebacker

I'll give you Clemmons and Hughes..... But Clemmons has been on like 10 teams.

Dumervil plays OLB in a 3-4 and DE in a 4-3. But guys like Dummervil and Freeney have a completely different body type. They're shorter and heavier with a lower center of gravity to anchor against the run.

Clemons and Hughes are on the fringe of 4-3 DE size and they're both about ten lbs heavier than Beasley. I'd be very surprised if he's drafted to play standard 4-3 DE. I can seem him being used in a similar role as Khalil Mack or Bruce Irvin as 4-3 OLBs who rush the passer in obvious passing situations. 3-4 OLB would probably be his ideal position

I like him too, but he seems like an AJ clone. I'd take a physical receiver like Strong to complement the offense

That's my point.... Marvin isn't changing his system. No reason to draft a guy that won't fit.

Beasily is fast enough to play linebacker, so he'll be ok somewhere, but is he big enough to wrastle with NFL tackles? we could take him as a LB, but might have more pressing needs at that pick.

Dummervil plays as an OLB for the Ravens that is true but he started his career with his hand on the ground as a 4-3 DE in Denver.

If we could take care of the DE depth in free agency, then it would make since.
