Pretty much this... and what Cmon wrote.

But nobody (including those who vote) watched Sharks games like we did, so he won't win it. The Sharks team was the biggest underachieving joke for weeks at a time and all Niemi kept doing was steal so many points for them.

Lundquist nominated is a silly... just on reputation/prior numbers, like it was said.

Bob will (should?) probably win it but Niemi does deserve serious consideration (which he won't get).

You could say the same thing about the Rangers, and Lundqvist had slightly better numbers than Niemi. But Niemi's nomination is justified and Lundqvist's isn't?

I'm pretty sure Lundqvist is going to make this list the rest of his career merely because of his name.

24-16-3 .926sv 2.05GAA
21-11-6 .932sv 2.00GAA
24-12-6 .924sv 2.16GAA

When you consider the teams in front of them, and the fact that Bob was THE biggest reason the BJs were close this year, it's a no brainer to me.

Fewest losses, highest save % and lowest GAA, most shutouts.

BOB

Shame he didn't make the playoffs, the only measure of goodness.

I didn't watch a lot of Niemi, I admit. But in the games I watched against the Jackets, he was not the star. It was a solid melding of the team and the goalie, so that's where I base my comments. And of course I am biased in this case. :D

Lundqvist's nomination is a joke. With all the guys who made bigger impacts snubbed, it's that much worse. Kind of annoying how some are saying Bob doesn't deserve to win because they missed the playoffs when they were picked to finish dead last and missed the playoffs on a tiebreaker against a team with a payroll 20 mil higher.

But Lundqvist is nominated when his team limped into the playoffs after getting a tong of bog names and most picked them to win the cup. And people are okay with this?

I would have said Niemi, Bob and Crawford.

Yeah, Crawford is on the best team in the league. But he has been PHENOMENAL. The Hawks didn't go on that run only because Kane and Toews score at will.

Haha.. please don't remind me of the head-to-head meetings between SJ/CBJ this season! :P

I hope Bob does win it. He definitely deserves it in my book.

The thing that screwed Crawford was that he split so much of the workload with Emery, right? /shrug

I wouldn't say it's a joke, I think he's a deserving nominee. But I agree Bob wins it hands down.

He's a guy that will consistently get it because, well, he's consistent. That's nothing to turn your nose up at...however, this is a year I'd put him in merely the top 8 or so, not the top 3. THE HORROR! It's not a bad thing, means you have a hell of a goalie.

Just out of curiosity, what 7 would you rank ahead of him

No particular order, but arguably (at the very least on par):

Niemi
Bob
Rask
Crawford
Anderson
Elliott
Holtby
Reimer
Quick
Hiller
Joey Mac

All guys I'd consider, yeah. I'm not saying that I'd put him at the bottom of that, but not in the top 3. That's merely because of this year. And I'd probably look at Jimmy Howard too. He's in that group. I like Holtby and Reimer, but they're not nearly consistent enough. Joey Mac? Haven't seen enough of him...

no one ever argues over Bing candidates....

That's another reputation award though. Win it once and your in (St. Louis for example). Heck, St. Louis is a shit head sometimes, but still wins it. There's probably some no name 3rd pair dman out there who is more gentlemanly, but no one really cares about...Ben Lovejoy for Byng!

Well I respectfully disagree. Quick, Hiller, and Elliott's numbers weren't overly impressive this year considering the teams they play on. I didn't see Macdonald but considering the team he plays on his numbers probably suffered. Anderson missed too many games otherwise he'd be winning it. Crawford split too much time with Emery who had almost identical stats, so I'd say they benefited from their team. I'll give you Rask. Niemi and Lundy had pretty similar stats so I guess it's just personal preference between the two. And I had already said Bob should win it.

You think all these people should've been nominated over Lundqvist?

No, most are guys who had the same kind of season as Lundqvist and shouldn't have been nominated either.

My nominees are Bob, Crawford and Niemi.

Rask and Anderson just outside that.

Goalie Bob wins this.

I think it was Anderson's season had he played a full one. Look out for him next year behind a healthy team.

Shed a goalie, he gets nominated for (and just might win) the Vezina.

Next up, the Flyers will trade Zac Rinaldo to the Canucks, and he will win the Lady Bing.
