Well, it looks like Vancouver is finally getting on the stick with the riot investigation. They have issued a poster that they are passing out to citizens and have posted online to help gather information about suspects.

The poster has pictures of more than 100 rioters and asks residents to call or e-mail with tips on the identity of the individuals.

According to the poster, more than 75 officers, analysts and technicians have viewed more than 5,000 hours of video footage. To put that in perspective, if you had 3 people doing nothing but viewing footage 24/7 with no delays inbetween viewing, taking notes, etc., it would STILL take 70 days to get through it all.

HERE is the poster (pdf).

While it does seem like they've been slow on this, my guess is that they took the time to really identify the worst offenders in the whole thing and waited to move forward until they made that list. Looks like they have it now and I'm guessing they'll figure out who most of these people are within a week.

Additional note:
-The suspects appear to be almost exclusivey young adults - 15-30 age range
-TWO different douchebags have on Yankees' baseball caps :L

no ... they are supposedly taking the time to build open and shut cases against rioters that they can present to crown ... but we dont have elected accountable judges so everyone will get a discharge no matter what

The Integrated Riot Investigation Team is reaffirming its slow and steady approach to recommending charges against Stanley Cup rioters after an 18-year-old who was linked to the riot received an absolute discharge on Nov. 2.

Karanvir Singh Saran was arrested by Surrey RCMP one day after the June 15 riot and was charged with possession of stolen property. He pleaded guilty in Surrey Provincial Court on Nov. 2 and was discharged.Crown Counsel concluded that there was insufficient evidence to prove that Saran had looted swimwear from a downtown store.

The arrest was made by the Mounties and was independent of the IRIT***8217;s investigation. Vancouver Police chief Jim Chu said an absolute discharge is what happens when police rush charges.

***8220;This reaffirms what we have said from the start; it***8217;s crucial that we take our time to gather and process evidence to help support the greatest number of convictions with the most severe penalties,***8221; he said in a written statement on Friday. ***8220;I***8217;m confident that the courts will also recognize that the victims who suffered losses and injuries on June 15th deserve this.***8221;

The VPD recommended 163 charges for 60 suspected rioters on Oct. 31. Crown Counsel has not approved any of the charges yet. Insp. Les Yeo, in charge of the riot investigation, said he is confident more charges will follow in the next few weeks and months.

The IRIT will also announce a campaign next week that will help bring more rioters to justice.

I really hope they get this guy, because I don't know about you, but I have a question or two that I would really like to have him answer.

Wow. Now I'm not a criminal prosecutor, but I feel like I could get a charge to stick with a guilty plea. :L

this is what the cops here are up against ... they are doing all this work ... sending video down south to be analyzed in a special FBI digital recognition lab at great expense to the taxpayer and we will end up with judges not even giving out slaps on the wrists

If I was more like JeffSly I would demand judges be backhanded and then gassed

 wtf? I would never suggest raping judges for wrongdoing. Unless of course they are really hot 18-30 yr old chicks with nothing on under their judge garments. (just kidding, I dont condone r*pe of any sort.)

Assholes.

Gouge their eyes out and gas them sounds like something I'd say though. DO IT!

More charges:

Twenty more people to be charged with Stanley Cup riot offences

A 24-year-old from south of the border may have nominated himself as dumbest rioter of 2011, if the facts presented by police are borne out.

According to police, the Blaine resident found himself in front of a store being looted on the 700-Block Granville just after 10 p.m.

“Like many others, the accused broke into the store and stole a number of items,” police say. “Unlike many others that night, [he] allegedly had his surname emblazoned across his back on a hockey jersey.”
