Van Halen with Saamy or Dave?

I’m sure I’ll be in the minority here, but I lean toward Sammy.

Was never a huge VH fan though, so maybe that’s why.

Dave was probably a better front man, but Sammy is clearly the better singer.

Dave is one of those singers that I don't mind as long as I dont have to see him. He reminds me too much of a belemic Bette Midler

I prefer Sammy

Van Halen's last album was "1984".

And speaking of "1984", when the album first came out "Jump" and "Panama" were decent tunes. Since then, both songs have been so insanely overplayed that they both have reached my top 20 most hated songs ever.

They're a completely different band with Roth compared to Sammy. Sammy pushes them into pop love songs. Dave ain't talkin' 'bout love...

Like 'em both, but Roth era is a steady part of my playlist. Hagar era is an occasional dalliance.

I remember when the change happened. My friends and I were excited. Eddie could jam and Sammy was a damn good guitar player (I liked his stuff like Red and Three Lock Box). We thought Van Halen would rock. Turns out they went synthesizer on us.

I saw them with Sammy and it was a pretty good show, but I gotta say I prefer David Lee Roth for the same reasons a few others have already stated. The early VH was bitching R&R and Sammy gets a bit too mushy and popish.

I agree, Hagar softened their sound with songs about love while Roth exuded a harder edge.

I never really listened to much Van Halen when Sammy was the singer so I will go with Dave for now.

The only song I really enjoy with Sammy as lead is Cabo wabo and Where Eagles Fly......Other than that it's not much........
