Wow -- VT finally showed some defense by keeping Georgia Tech without a field goal in the last seven minutes of regulation.

Congrats on JJ's first ACC win.

Amazing how not getting crushed on the boards can change the outcome of a game.

Interesting win. I'm also surprised that GT didn't try to make the game more uptempo. A lack of depth hurts the Hokies but GT never really tried to make it into a track meet. And JJ's philosophy seems to be run run run and ignore the depth issues.

Weaver sacrificed women's basketball to make the budget look good. It's a very positive position to stay on stable financial footing within the athletic department, but I think we're too conservative. Since the basketball practice facility was built, it's been one cheap move after another for non-football programs.

Early 2000s WBB wasn't that bad (relatively speaking). It was still WBB, but atleast a positive footnote in campus life. Recently, the lack of support from the AD is almost an insult to the women that make up the team and to a lesser extent the student body that pays athletic fees.

I think its pretty evident with how Weaver handled the Men's team that Weaver doesn't care about any sport but football. He's killed whatever good will the women had over the last 10 years and may have stunted the men by being cheap, which is odd considering the money spent on the practice facility. What I've seen from him the last few years, the non football sports will be better off when Weaver retires

Is there any chance that VT will have a basketball team next year?

Or will they be a non-team without Green?

it all depends on the guys, we've seen that the majority of the players on the team can be really good...i guess whether or not they will be depends on if they are able to put this season behind them, or dwell on how piss poorly they have played the last 10-15 games (or however long its been since we were undefeated and beating a ranked team)

Will guys be able to put their personal struggles behind them and rediscover the team chemistry that they had at the start of this year? Losing begets losing. Once you're down on yourself and/or your teammates, it's hard to get back up. We'll have enough talent to be better, but guys will have to improve both their play and their attitudes. They are certainly struggling to do that during the season, which is cause for a lot of concern. We shall see.

Good article on Joey Racer from the Collegiate Times. For those that don't know his background, his dad passed away, pretty unexpectedly. I had met Joey's dad a few times between him visiting Tech or me visiting Joey's home. He was just an overall nice and welcoming guy. It was really sad to see him pass, and I thought it would crush Joey. Instead, it pushed Joey to be a better person (which is hard since he's always been one of the best guys I know). The article does a good job going over Joey's life and how the tragedy motivated him.

It's kinda long, but worth the read if you have the time.
