Cousins is a Philadelphia Flyers prospect, while Fritsch was drafted by the Phoenix Coyotes.

They don't have open courts in Canada anyway right? I remember when Casey Cizikas dropped in the rankings because of the lacrosse incident. The media wasn't allowed in the courtroom.

Courts are open unless there's a reason for them not to be.
Usually the protection of a victim's identity or something similar.

Max sentencing for sexual assault up north is ten years for an indictable offense or eighteen months for a summary conviction offense. Sexual assault involving a weapon is a maximum of fourteen with a minimum of four if the weapon was a gun. Aggravated sexual assault (where you wound, maim, disfigure, or endanger the life of the victim) carries a maximum penalty of life and the same four year minimum with a gun.

Before you ask, I have no idea what the difference between a summary conviction offense and an indictable offense is other than a guess that a summary conviction offense is like a misdemeanor and an indictable offense is a felony? I dunno, ask a lawyer. A CANADIAN lawyer.
