Jalen Guyton could be a sneaky good pickup for the Dallas Cowboys

I used to like Broaddus but I just can't take his word on anything any more. He became such a shill for the franchise and kind of became a know-it-all can't admit he was wrong guy once he start to "become someone". Look no further than his constant propping up of Jeff Heath the last two years. Anyway, looks like we got two First round talent WRs as UDFAs if you look at his scouting report. Personally I like what I have read/heard about Guyton the last week or so and think he has a chance to make the team (and read others high on Johnson) but at least give us some weaknesses.




Name: Jalen Guyton
College: North Texas
Height/Weight: 6-0/212

Scouting Report:

• Physically, this is a good looking kid. He also has speed, clocking a 4.39 40-yard dash.
• Plays with some smoothness as a route runner.
• Catches the ball well on the move. He can make things happen with the ball in his hands. Breaks tackles.
• Will create separation with physical play.
• He gets north-south in a hurry. Nice job coming back for the ball.
• Presents himself as a good target.
• Catches the ball in tight spaces. Will adjust to the low ball. Knows how to find space.
• Plays with balance. Does a nice job of driving the defender off the ball. This makes him a handful to deal with.
• Guyton got his start at Notre Dame before transferring to North Texas. You can see why he had the talent to play at that level.

College: Toledo
Height/Weight: 5’11/199

Scouting Report:

• Another burner with 4.39 speed, Johnson lines up both inside and out.
• You see nice initial quickness in his routes. Sharp out of his breaks.
• Catches the ball in his hands well.
• Can cover some ground. He gets into his routes in a hurry. Finds space in his routes.
• Johnson is smooth, too. He turns naturally.
• I see a lot of composure and willingness in his game. He’ll adjust to balls thrown behind him, and he’ll go up for balls thrown above his head.
• At this point in his career, he is much better playing on the outside than running routes inside.
• Outstanding when it comes to double-moves. He excels at setting cornerbacks up.
• Can run through coverages.
• If he has an area where he struggles, it is with contested passes. Didn’t come up with a high number of those.
• He’ll need to develop his strength and willingness as a blocker. Right now he’s more of a “get in the way” blocker.

reading this you wonder why they werent drafted early in the draft. Instead of being UDFA. Got to agree with you here. The weaknesses is where I try to read between the lines on a player. This makes Guyton look like an All-Pro already.

With that said I love bringing in speed as UDFA hoping to find lightning in a bottle.

Dallas has had really good luck with UDFA’s from Drew Pearson to Tony Romo with a whole bunch of contributors in between.
The Wise kid from Kansas will be in the rotation by end of season IMHO

The Dallas Cowboys added intriguing undrafted prospects who fill needs and have the polish to contribute soon.

Former Kansas defensive tackle Daniel Wise probably won't start from day one, but he could become a rotational piece of Dallas' dangerous defensive front.

"He lacks some of the needed playing strength throughout his 6'3", 281-pound frame and has to develop fast and powerful hands to counter professional linemen, but he has traits to build upon," Bleacher Report's Matt Miller wrote.

Former Toledo wideout Jon'Vea Johnson could also emerge as a weapon. He has downfield receiving ability, as evidenced by his 20.6 yards-per-reception average in 2018.

Dallas' offensive line could use depth, which is where Clemson's Mitch Hyatt comes in. He's a four-year starter who could quickly become one of the league's better backups.
