The Patriots have also added TE Justin Jones out of ECU. Jones is huge (6-foot-8 and 274 pounds). He also missed the 2013 season for failing to make his grades.

He is huge though, 6'8 - 280lbs.
Can he run?
Can he catch?

Can he read the playbook?

6.88 3 cone. For 6'8", the dude can move, he's pretty damn athletic.
We had a few TE's in here last year as UDFA's and none of them stuck.
Hopefully this dude can pair up with Gronk and be a redzone Fricken nightmare for the opposition.

Hopefully Justin Jones has as good or better a camp and pre-seasson that Zach Sudfeld had and continues in the regular season. I think Sudfeld would of stayed if we hadn't had so many needs due to injuries and the offense struggling.

Looking for Jones hand size but I can't find it.
Only thing I could find were his pro day results at NFL Draft Scout. They have a quip at the bottom of the page that says he was not enrolled in the school (East Carolina) which made hime ineligiable.
As big and athletic as he is, I hope he can catch. And learn the playbook.
He could be the perfect compliment and/or stand in with/for Gronk.

Saw some of these guys salaries on ESPN Boston, some are for $10,000.
A $5,000 signing bonus and another $5,000 in base salary.
Seriously? In New England thats not enough to rent an apartment though training camp, never mind gas to get back and forth.
This cannot possibly be for the season if they make the cut can it?

What? You can't rent a place for $5k per month? Shit, You can easily in expensive ass San Diego.

I think it depends on if they make the 53-man roster or practice squad.

If they stick through training camp preseason that would be May, June, July and August.
4 months.
Most land lords like you to sign a 12 month lease or the price goes way up.
4 x 1250 = $5,000.
Or call it 16 weeks and it's still just over $300 a week for an extended stay hotel. Still not getting a great place in or around Boston.

They are paid $5k per month. That's $20k for those 4 months.

I believe that the NFL has a minimum salary structure. I could be wrong but I think it's $350,000 a year if you're on the opening week roster and I believe it's guaranteed.
