The AAC could have been and still could be decent.

They've just had horrible fortune. Memphis and Josh Pastner and Larry Brown and SMU both miserably failed when the upside was big. Cincy is a good program. Temple is solid if unspectacular.

But UConn belongs in a better conference. They're UConn!

I would love to see them back in the Big East. DePaul can take a hike. They're absolutely worthless.

I would say the most likely scenario is after years of begging on hands and knees the ACC, Big 12 or Big 10 lets them in.

DePaul is worthless, but you would think they have potential. I'd still keep them in the conference, just add Uconn and then a 12th team.

I certainly think there's more to it for particularly this season, the main one being injuries, obviously. I just don't think the AAC schedule is very conducive for them either. Just look at their upcoming schedule: @ SMU, vs. ECU, @ USF, vs. Tulane, @ Cincy, vs. USF, @ Central Florida, vs. Memphis, @ Temple, @ Houston, vs. SMU.

I think they'll be able to recruit just fine, as they've shown, but I think the margin for error for them has greatly been reduced.

I guess my point is, it's not like they're running the table in the AAC right now anyway.

They're getting beat by Tulsa and SMU and Cincy and Memphis and Houston anyway.

They STILL haven't won @ Tulsa....ever.

Sources: UConn, Big East Have Had Recent Discussions About Expansion

As a fan of college basketball, please let this happen.

I'm assuming that article meant the AAC is expanding to 20 teams in 2019/2020, becuase I hadn't heard anyting about the ACC having a set deadline. I doubt UConn would do anything if they knew that option was still out there.

UConn should go the UMass route for football. Be indy, and get paid ungodly sums of money to get your teeth kicked in and not cost the University a ton of money to have a program. Or go back to 1-AA and try to use your BCS level facilities to recruit really good players at that level to come to you.

Good find dude.

Rumors have been swirling for a while now, but Rothstein is a reliable source. I don't like 20 games, but for UConn, I'll take it.

Interestingly enough, the Big East sucks at women's hoops. I did not know this before today (nor did I know they calculated RPI for women's ball), so joining would help men's basketball and only men's basketball. But that's the school's golden child. As much as their women win, it's no comparison.

Article said the ACC was expanding to 20 league games, not teams. Which makes since for them because they have 15 teams. Not sure they would be expanding to 20 teams, that seems ridiculous.

And I agree with your 2nd comment. Go Indy, but get basketball back in a conference where it should be.

The AAC isn't good at women's hoops either.

The AAC is toast. It's really just the misfit conference.

The WAC or MW should take Tulsa and Houston and SMU.

Let the Western kentucky conference take like East Carolina and the ilk.

Idk, just saying this conference was just thrown together because it could be. Not cause it made any sense.
